Please join us in congratulating Detective Lieutenant John Tomaszewski on his retirement after an incredible 28 years of dedicated service to our department and community.

Hired in 1998, Det. Lt. Tomaszewski served in numerous roles throughout his career, including Bike Patrol Officer, Detective, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Detective Lieutenant.

He also served as a Field Training Officer, Grant Writer, and Crisis Intervention-trained officer, while bringing his experience as a one of the departments last certified paramedic officers to the job.

After 28 years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment, he leaves behind a lasting legacy with our Village and Police Department. Thank you, Lieutenant, for your unwavering service to our community. We wish you a long, happy, and well-deserved retirement! 👮‍♂️🎉

LPD had a full night at last week's Village Board meeting with three promotions and a new hire. Congratulations to the following:

Steve Winkler was promoted to Deputy Chief after 19 years of service to the Village. He has been a patrol officer, DEA Task Force Officer, Investigations, Patrol Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He also graduated Northwestern's School of Police Staff and Command.

Tim Harvey was promoted to Lieutenant after 21 years of service. Tim started in patrol, but quickly moved into Investigations where he was on the Major Crimes Task Force. He was a Field Training Officer, and once he was promoted to Sergeant, he was placed in charge of our Field Training Program.

Keith Haan was promoted to Sergeant after 11 years of service. Keith has also been a Field Training Officer, Detective, and K-9 Handler.

Victor Villegas #439 was sworn in as Lansing's newest officer. He will attend the Cook County Sheriff's Police Academy over the next 16 weeks. Then he will come back to Lansing and train with three separate training officers for another 16 weeks. Please wish him well and keep him in your prayers.

PUPDATE: Returned to owner

Do you know me?

I was out for a stroll last night on the 18500 block of Oakley Ave when I was picked up by the Lansing Illinois Police Department (708) 895-7150. They brought me back to the station where I made friends with another dog. They said they are going to try and help me get home but they unfortunately I do not have any signs of ownership. If you have any information about me, please call LPD right away. Thank you!

The Red Cross will be at the Lansing Municipal Center, 3141 Ridge Rd. today at 12 PM. handing out hot meals for those that have been struggling through the aftermath of this storm. If you know anyone in Lansing that could benefit from this, please inform them.

I was checking to see if the Gayety’s ice cream shop on Ridge Road was still open cause I really wanted some last night. It isn’t though. That makes me sad, but while I was out I was picked up by Lansing Illinois Police Department (708) 895-7150, who brought me in. It is a good thing too cause I am not sure I would have found my way home on my own. Everything looks so different. Anyways, I have a chain collar but no other signs of ownership. I am also pretty shy, even though I like people. If you have any information about me please call LPD. Thank you!
