“Michigan’s licensing laws provide the public with assurances that these professionals possess the appropriate training and education to practice in their fields, and that they are licensed by the state to function in those official capacities. LARA has acted appropriately to suspend this license pending the administrative process, and I am committed to supporting them in this effort.” AG Nessel

MDHHS has revised and extended its epidemic order to contain the spread of COVID-19, as Michigan continues to see a surge in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. Although most of the order is unchanged, new provisions target indoor gatherings where COVID has spread most rapidly.

Michigan presently has 172 cases per million people and positivity of tests has increased from about 2% to 5.5% and both indicators have been increasing for over four weeks. Hospitalizations for COVID-19 have doubled over the last three weeks while the state death rate has increased for five consecutive weeks.

Today, Orlene Hawks, the Director of the Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), signed Michigan Indigent Defense Commission (MIDC) Standard 5. The approval of MIDC Minimum Standard 5 ensures that public defense attorneys are subject to judicial supervision only in the same manner and to the same extent as retained counsel or the prosecution; the ability of a person charged in the criminal legal system to pay for counsel should not dictate whether they receive constitutionally-sound representation that is free from interference by the judiciary. https://www.michigan.gov/lara/0,4601,7-154-11472-543713--,00.html

We must remain vigilant, so we prevent long-term health consequences and unnecessary deaths, and protect our hospital capacity and the health of our frontline health workers.” Read more at https://bit.ly/31SpkPc and find the latest data, information, and #COVID19 news in Michigan at Michigan.gov/Coronavirus. #MaskUpMichigan

10/29/2020

The Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) served an order summarily suspending the license of Alison R. Marshall, R.N. The Michigan Public Health Code provides for summary suspension of professional licenses when the public health, safety, or welfare requires emergency action.

LARA also served an accompanying administrative complaint on Ms. Marshall. The complaint alleges that she diverted fentanyl from her workplace and replaced the stolen fentanyl with saline in an effort to conceal her actions. As a result, the complaint indicates Ms. Marshall put numerous patients at risk of receiving saline instead of fentanyl for pain control. https://www.michigan.gov/lara/0,4601,7-154-89505-543640--,00.html

For the sixth straight time, the Center for Digital Government has recognized Michigan.gov with a grade of “A” for its utilization of technology to enhance customer service. The announcement was part of the center’s sixth biennial Digital States Survey, an evaluation of technology practices of all 50 states. As one of only two states to receive the top grade in each year of the survey, this year’s recognition reinforces Michigan’s status as a national leader in providing government technology services. Earlier this year, Michigan was also recognized as a finalist for overall state government experience in the Center for Digital Government’s fourth annual Government Experience Awards. This year’s award honored U.S. governments that are leveraging innovative IT to enhance services and user experience during the pandemic. Michigan is a perennial standout, having placed in the top five states in 2017, 2018, and 2019 for Overall Government Experience during past award years. Read more at bit.ly/34B4WEb.

Great morning all... I have my LLC, however I need to obtain a resale certificate as required by some companies. Searched, but cannot find one on the LARA site... please advise.
My certification tab is missing....
Wondering how you sleep at night allowing a daycare to remain open knowing That it is operated by sex offenders. I am absolutely disgusted. You’re supposed to look after our children’s well-being. You are part of the problem. I wonder how much of a kickback your departments receiving. Close down Cozy Corner daycare.
I am currently waiting on my limited license from the state and have been put on the back burner because of the new system. This is causing me not to WORK. I am wondering why it is taking so long and also why it was started during COVID when the original start date was not until April of next year?
What are the requirements needed if I wanted to add ear piercing to my salon? This would be the only form of body art
Certifications and the next certification dates aren’t showing up in MiWAM accounts. It is impossible to chat with an agent or get through. I tried to call 46 times yesterday. 😔
I have been trying to navigate the LARA website https://www.michigan.gov/lara/. I have had a terrible experience with a builder and I want to look into any history of complaints against this person/company. I was not successful. Can someone give me advise on how I would go about getting information like that on a builder?
Hello! I currently work for LIBERTY NATIONAL We are currently looking for a few gals and gents to join our team! 5 days a week ( weekends off ) Starting rate is $15Hr Paid weekly! We’re are looking for immediate hire, feel free to pm me for more information.
When will Michigan become a compact state for nurses? The current crisis is getting worse. COVID-19 is coming from the south end from the west. Poor Michigan has already began suffering. To date 100,000 deaths. I feel like Michigan should prepare ahead of time for the coming wave. Better to act now then to wait and have to hurry up and get to it later so in other words better safe than sorry. Buy Michigan becoming a compact state this will allow other nurses as well as Michigan nurses to go between states and help where needed during this crisis. Any suggestions on how we can make this happen?
Do you have the NEW COVID 19 REGULATIONS for SALONS and BARBERSHOPS to open June 15th yet.... final guidelines need to be in place so I can open my MI Salon properly. I feel the Fidelis need to lidocaine be in place so I know what the state expects from Salon and barbershop owners
I own a business that does medical massage under a doctors care and prescription for auto accident victims. I have patients, case managers and doctors calling me to get these patients back on schedule. I have spoke to ABMP and have gotten their go ahead to start working as long as we have a script. Why is LARA saying that it isnt ok? This isnt spa massage, this is deter-mental to the care and healing of my patients. This helps them with their pain and the quality of their life. If opening to CDC standards why are you keeping us from working??????
What is the date that hair salons, barbershops, nail salons and spa can begin to operate?
