The Society has been enjoying the frequent posts of swearing-in ceremonies of the February 2026 bar exam passers. Congratulations!

In our archives collection, we have a “Certificate of Admission as an Attorney” from the Civil War era! On March 22, 1862, before Judge Edward Lawrence and Clerk Robert Barry of the Washtenaw County Circuit Court, Andrew McEvoy of Ann Arbor was “admitted and licensed to practice” as an attorney.
