Yesterday we participated in the Lansing high school career day. Students were able to try on turnout gear, wear an SCBA and handle some of the equipment we use. They also got the chance to check out one of our engines.

Please help in congratulating 4 of our newest interior firefighters. Over the course of the last 4 months, they have completed over 168 hours of prerequisite first aid, CPR, and FEMA ICS courses, as well as classroom instruction, hands‑on skills, and scenario‑based exercises designed to prepare them for the challenges of firefighting and rescue operations.

Today we hosted an open house to recruit new members and also showcase what we have to offer as a fire department. We had a decent turnout from the public, and received a few applications.

Tonight's training was a class on Stop the Bleed. Elevate EMS helped us put on this very important training for our members. Members learned how to correctly place tourniquets on patients and also how to pack a wound.

Great day of training and networking with our mutual aid neighbors, Cayuga Heights Fire Department Varna Volunteer Fire Co. Neptune Hose Co #1 of Dryden Inc. Dryden Ambulance Inc. In total we had 46 members from 4 departments working together to hone our skills and learn a few new tactics.
Thank you to our staff members for putting on a great lunch, and helping make this day a success.
