How much do you know about PFAS — and what can you do to reduce your exposure?

Michigan’s first-ever PFAS Awareness Week is Sept. 21–25, with 15 events across the state and online.

Hear from researchers and health experts, join community conversations and get practical information about PFAS in drinking water, fish and everyday products — including steps you can take to reduce your exposure to these “forever chemicals.”

🎨 EGLE’s Radon Poster Contest is back!
Michigan 6th–8th grade students are invited to create a poster that teaches others about radon — an invisible gas that can enter homes and cause lung cancer.

🏆 Winning posters will be featured on EGLE’s website and social media, and Michigan’s first-place winner will advance to the National Radon Poster Contest!

We can’t wait to see what students create! 🖌

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent community open house in Detroit!

It was a great evening talking with residents, answering questions, sharing resources, and hearing directly from people in the neighborhood.

Many attendees shared that they appreciated the chance to learn more about environmental topics, meet their neighbors, and explore ways to get involved locally.

For EGLE, opportunities like this are a valuable way to listen to residents, understand what’s on their minds, and provide helpful information and resources.

We’re grateful to the Georgia Street Community Collective for hosting us, to our partners who joined us, and to everyone who stopped by!

🎉 Cheers to our 2026 EGLE interns!

This summer, these talented students contributed to projects focused on environmental protection, sustainability, public health, water resources and more.

At our Summer Intern Showcase, they shared their work with hundreds of EGLE staff and colleagues from across the State of Michigan.

We’re so grateful for their hard work and contributions this summer — and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next! 👏

🏠 What can home energy rebates do for Michigan homeowners?

Hear from Emily Molnar, a Marquette County homeowner.

With help from Michigan Home Energy Rebates (MiHER), Emily upgraded her home with a heat pump, heat pump water heater and electrical improvements — making her home more comfortable and energy efficient through a cold Upper Peninsula winter.

She’s one of roughly 400 U.P. homeowners approved for MiHER rebates so far, with more projects underway.

🔬 What does an EGLE toxicologist do?

Meet Keisha Williams, who has spent 12 years at EGLE using science to understand how pollution and chemical hazards can impact people and the environment.

Her work ranges from developing health-based screening levels for air permits to communicating health risks during wildfire smoke events and helping address community concerns.

Curious what a typical day looks like for a toxicologist? Get an inside look at Keisha’s work and her advice for anyone interested in the field.

Mile-a-minute w**d, a highly invasive vine that can smother trees and vegetation, has been confirmed in Jackson County.

And it lives up to its name: the vine can grow up to 6 inches a day, quickly overtaking native and landscape vegetation and forming dense, prickly thickets. Its blue-to-purple berries can also spread seeds to new areas.

The detection was reported by a landowner, allowing invasive species staff to respond quickly. Since then, staff have surveyed thousands of acres in Jackson and Calhoun counties and found no additional infestations in Jackson County.

You can help catch mile-a-minute w**d early. Look for its triangular leaves, prickly stems and blue-to-purple berries.
