Did you know that most homeowner insurance policies DO NOT cover a property for flood damage? Flood insurance can be purchased by ALL residents of the Village. Because Lansing participates in the National Flood Insurance Program and is a Class 5 community, residents located within the floodplain are eligible to receive a 25% discount on their flood insurance policy and all other residents are eligible to receive a 10% discount. Renters can obtain contents coverage to protect buildings. Contact your insurance agent to learn more about flood insurance opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Saturday's Shredding Event!

Residents safely disposed of confidential documents, helping to protect themselves from identity theft while keeping recyclable materials out of landfills.

In addition to document shredding, the Village collected non-perishable food items and $263 in cash donations for the Lansing Community Food Pantry. Thank you to everyone who brought donations and helped make this event a success.

Stay tuned for another shredding event in the Fall!

For 50 years, Lansing's Paramedic Program has provided lifesaving care and compassionate service to our community.

To commemorate this milestone anniversary, Lansing News Network sat down with retired Lansing paramedic Carl Vandermolen to reflect on the impact the program has had on generations of Lansing residents.

Thank you to the paramedics, past and present, whose dedication has helped save lives and strengthen our community for the last five decades.

How can I protect my property from the flood hazard? There are simple actions Village residents can take to help keep curbs and catch basins clear and thereby minimize the risk of flooding for everyone. When raking leaves, do not deposit piles into the street where they can block the gutter. Instead, pile them on the parkway (grassy area between the sidewalk and the street), this will allow stormwater to flow freely to the catch basin. Use a rake to clear leaves and other debris from the tops of catch basins, this will allow water to drain into the downstream conveyance system. Village staff are available to discuss property-specific flood hazards, potential flood protection measures, or ongoing drainage issues. Call the Building Department at 708-895-7200 for more information or to schedule a site visit.
