If you haven’t been to a Cap City Breaking Jam, you need to put it on your “Lansing Events You Can’t Miss” calendar!

The 5th annual Cap City Break Jam was such a hit! Breakers from all over the world gathered to celebrate community, hip hop, and spent all day on our beautiful Lansing riverfront. The Lansing Shuffle was a great partner and event host, the food hall lines were full, and the team at Lansing Public Media Center held it down all day recording interviews and capturing the Lansing and hip hop magic in the air. Every year, I love volunteering for this and seeing folks discover (and enjoy) all that Lansing has to offer.

Congratulations to All of the Above Hip Hop Academy and their partners on this event, and this year’s Cap City Breaking Jam 2026 Champions! 🤸🏻‍♀️

My second year attending the City of Lansing, Michigan - Government Mayor’s Senior Fair, and it did not disappoint! Amazing turnout, wonderful community partners and resources, friendly neighbors and City staff- and I even got to help with this year’s raffle. So much fun! Can’t wait for the next one 🎟️

Congratulations to the Lansing School District on a wonderful Open House for the new Willow School! It was great to see so many families and friends exploring the new campus, and to see the excitement build for the fall.

Our kids and educators deserve the best, and it’s inspiring to see the amazing improvements and vision brought to life. Go Rhinos!

Got a first glimpse of our new City Hall, and it was well worth it despite the heat! Can’t wait for our residents and city employees to enjoy what’s to come.

So much joy at today’s celebration for the construction of the Holmes and Pleasant Grove Community Center! Congratulations to the Lansing Growth Fund and all of the phenomenal partners involved in this project.

In 2016 I was serving as a Lansing City Hall AmeriCorps VISTA, and I remember the amazing neighbors, business owners, and community leaders I met in Southwest Lansing, and what they taught me about community and leadership.

In 2026 as a member of Lansing City Council, it is an honor to see the amazing journey of the last decade, and to celebrate what’s to come. Lansing’s time truly is now!
