🐶 Happy National Dog Day! It also happens to be our Library Director’s birthday - so naturally, it’s time for a staff spotlight!
Kristine is a native Floridian who was born and raised in Lantana. She began her library career in 2011 as a Business Librarian Intern at the Broward County African American Research Library. She then spent her formative library years at the Boynton Beach City Library, working as a page, library aide, and Teen Librarian, before becoming Youth Services Manager at the Boca Raton Public Library.
A few weeks after her father, also a lifelong Lantana resident, passed away, Kristine was driving to work in Boca when a colleague sent her the opening for Lantana Library Director. She immediately knew: this was it.
Other librarians told her that LPL was too small and underfunded to be a fulfilling career choice. They were wrong, and so much has changed since then! She applied, and the rest is history.
If you’ve ever wondered why our library is so youth-focused, now you know: serving young people has always been Kristine’s passion. She believes libraries hold a special place in their communities and should be safe, welcoming spaces for children and teens. Inspiring new readers, fostering friendships among parents at storytime, and giving kids and teens positive ways to learn, connect, create, and belong - these are the reasons she entered the library world.
🤩 Favorite program: The Library’s new Speak Easy series—and our other programs for “newish” adults!

📖 Favorite genres: Science fiction, speculative fiction, and literary fiction
📺 Favorite TV shows: Sci-fi series like Star Trek and Silo. Below Deck is her guilty pleasure. 😂
🚲 Favorite hobbies: When she isn’t reading, Kristine loves spending time with her friends—most of whom also grew up in Lantana—hiking, biking, being underwater, practicing yoga and meditation, & talking about the multiverse. ✨
