🇺🇸 Veterans: Which Veteran ID Card Is Right for You?

Did you know there are different types of identification Veterans may use? Each serves a different purpose.

🔹 Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)
For Veterans enrolled in VA health care. It’s used to check in for VA medical appointments and access certain VA facilities - can be renewed at VA medical centers

🔹 Department of Defense Identification Card
Issued to eligible service members, retirees, and certain family members. It may be used to access military installations and services.

🔹 Veteran ID Card (VIC)
A digital ID that can be used to show proof of Veteran status and may be helpful when seeking Veteran discounts.

🔹 Veteran Designation on a Driver’s License or State ID
Veterans can take their DD214 to local Secretary of State to add Veteran designation to their state-issued driver’s license or ID - free during license renewal or small fee applies when not during license renewal

🔹 Veteran Health Identification Card vs. Veteran ID Card?
They may sound similar, but they serve different purposes. A VIC verifies Veteran status, while a VHIC is issued to Veterans enrolled in VA health care.
