SCSD is taking a stand against bullying.

Today, our staff participated in bullying prevention training led by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. The training focused on recognizing, preventing, and responding to bullying, and most importantly, creating a school culture where every student feels safe, respected, and supported.

At SCSD, we believe every student deserves to learn without fear of being bullied or targeted. We are committed to continuing this work, strengthening our practices, and empowering our staff and students to speak up and make a difference.

Less than two weeks until nominations are due for the Young Ladies of Excellence Award Ceremony that is put on by the YWCA Northcentral PA, out of Williamsport. This year The Highland Herald will be sponsoring up to six nominations for girls that are in their senior year at SCHS. This includes our GCA students! Please consider voicing your opinion to Mrs. Essick who will facilitate the nominations as the newspaper advisor. There are six categories that these young ladies may be nominated for and they include: Advocacy, Art & Culture, Education, Sports, Health & Wellness, and Guiding Light.

After reading through the link provided, you can email Mrs. Essick by September 9th to voice your opinion on nominees. Include the category you believe they fit best in and a blurb about why you believe they deserve special recognition.

✨ Inclusion & Friendship on Full Display at SCES! ✨

We are thrilled to officially reveal our completed Mikayla's Voice project at Sullivan County Elementary! 🎨🤝

This incredible piece of artwork is now proudly displayed right in our cafeteria. Every detail serves as a daily reminder to our students and staff about the importance of inclusion, friendship, and making sure everyone feels like they belong.

A special thank you to Dr. Zwatty for making this project possible, and to everyone who helped bring it to life! 💙🦅

🌟 Filling Buckets & Building Great Habits at SCES! 🌟

Our K-2 students had a wonderful morning with guidance counselor Laura Fiester! Mrs. Fiester visited with our youngest learners to read all about Bucket Fillers and learning how simple acts of kindness, encouraging words, and helpful hands can fill someone else's "bucket" (and our own, too!). 🪣💖

To wrap up the morning, our students put their kindness into action by practicing our auditorium expectations. They did a fantastic job showing respectful listening and awesome assembly behavior!

Thank you, Mrs. Fiester, for helping our school community start the year full of kindness and respect. Keep filling those buckets, Griffins! 🦅✨
