On Tuesday, July 21, the LaPorte County Adult Probation Department celebrated National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week with a staff cookout at Creek Ridge County Park.

We were honored to welcome Deputy Phillips and K-9 Riot from the La Porte County Sheriff's Office for a special K-9 demonstration. Staff had the opportunity to learn about the training, skills, and important role police K-9s play in law enforcement. Riot did an outstanding job during the demonstration and was especially excited to earn his well-deserved reward!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Deputy Phillips for sharing his time and expertise, and to Riot for putting on such an impressive demonstration. We also appreciate our management team for preparing lunch and helping make the day a success.

A special thank you to Judge Stalbrink and Judge Oss for taking the time to join us as we celebrated. Your support of our department and staff is greatly appreciated.

After more than 30 years of dedicated service, we are honored to celebrate the retirement of Jami Ritter, who has been an invaluable part of LaPorte County Adult Probation since May 1994.

Throughout her career, Jami has gone above and beyond in her role as an administrative assistant. She has expertly managed budgets, coordinated travel plans for probation officers, maintained and updated department records, handled countless filings, and supported our team in their day-to-day responsibilities with professionalism and care.

But beyond her impressive work ethic and attention to detail, Jami has been so much more than a colleague—she has been a true friend to many. Her positive spirit, kindness, and uplifting attitude have left a lasting impact on our entire department.

Jami, you will be deeply missed, and your contributions will not be forgotten. We wish you all the best in this next chapter—you’ve certainly earned it!
