The Sullivan County Department of Emergency Services is looking for contact information from local community and volunteer groups interested in helping develop a pre-disaster plan for Emergency Food and Shelter.

When disasters strike, many local groups are ready to assist those in need. While we recognize the contributions of food pantries and government facilities, we are specifically seeking contact information from church groups, legions, and community organizations, as well as potential shelter locations throughout Sullivan County, from Shunk to Lopez, Colley to Muncy Valley, and everywhere in between.

We need individuals and groups that can provide manpower, logistics, food storage, preparation locations, volunteer management, donation management, and shelter options. Your input will be invaluable in creating effective solutions.

Responding to this message does not lock you into a commitment, but working together will make the effort easier for everyone involved. We want to understand the resources available in our county and how we can support those affected during a disaster.

For more information, please contact Jason Dickinson, Director of the Sullivan County Department of Emergency Services, at 570-946-5010 or [email protected]."

Plow trucks are out in full force within Sullivan County. We are at the point where the rate of snow per hour is exceeding the pace that our great PennDOT, Municipal and private plow truck operators can keep up.
In a briefing our office received we were notified that US Route 220 is in a TIER 4: Full Commercial Vehicle Restriction (Please see attachments for clarification.) We don't have any other information than what is currently provided in the attachments.
We ask that you stay off the roads unless it is an emergency and allow our plow truck operators time to get the roads clear.

*Weather update for Sullivan County*
The state of Pennsylvania will be experiencing a significant winter weather event on Sunday 1/25/26.
To keep everyone safe, we strongly discourage any traveling during this storm as roads could become impassible.
We encourage stocking up on supplies: food, water, medications, fuel (generators, snow blowers, home heating...) before the storm hits.
You should have a charged cell phone in case of emergency ( in case of extended power outages)
Also, while out shoveling you should: let someone know that you are outside shoveling, dress in loose fitting layers, take frequent breaks, try pushing snow to save energy. You SHOULD NOT only lift snow and don't forget to hydrate.
