Today, July 29, 2026, we celebrated Warden Dixson’s last day at LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility before he transitions to Miami Correctional Facility as their new Warden. We held a luncheon on his behalf, thanking him for what he did for our facility and for the youth. It was fantastic to work for someone with his knowledge and sense of fairness, and to see how the youth responded to him. We will miss Warden Dixson and wish him the very best as the Warden at Miami Correctional Facility. They are receiving a fantastic Warden and an even better person.

Today 7/2/26 we held a Fiber Arts group at the facility. We had a total of 15 your participate in the group and they crochet weave art and were able to make masks with air dry clay. The youth had a fantastic time creating their projects with the help of Pam Butler from Norte Dame University. You can see the masks from start to finish with cool designs.

Today, June 26, 2026, the youth completed another Fiber Arts group making masks. The youth really had a great time creating their masks the children’s air dry clay. They were able to create what they had envisioned for their masks. Please enjoy the photos. #𝚎𝚗𝚓𝚘𝚢𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢𝚖𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝

Today LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility held a GED graduation. We had 2 youth graduates earn their GED’s and were recognized for doing so. The 2 youth that received their GED Diplomas had family in attendance for the ceremony. Mr. Hawkins (School Principal) and Thomas Niksich spoke at the ceremony honoring the 2 youth.

Today, LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility held a re-entry simulation and had 8 youth participate in the event. The event was run by Warden Dixson, with several staff members assisting along with Jim Cunningham and his group from Notre Dame also assisting. The event was very well received by the youth participants as they got to see what a real life scenario would be like. The youth were able to go to different stations to fill out job applications, buy food, get transportation, medical help as well as get education information. The re-entry simulation was a great workshop for the youth and staff.

More huge happenings at LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility to start the spring. We had several youth start planting flowers and getting our garden beds ready to plant. The youth were able to w**d the garden beds and plant several different flowers in the facility. A huge shout out to Mark’s Farm Market And Greenhouse for donating the plants and flowers to be planted. The youth really enjoyed working with the flowers and plants.

To culminate our corrections week Warden Dixson participated in the state golf outing as LaPorte Juvenile sponsored a hole during the golf outing and we held a pie in the face raffle. A big shout out to Sgt. Whitehouse as he received the pie in the face and Ofc. S. Warner for winning the bid to throw the pie. All participants had fun during our week. All proceeds went to the CPAFI Fund. Thank you to everyone who participated.

On Tuesday May 19, 2026, our Education Department held a graduation for 2 of our youth. The ceremony was held in the school library as staff, youth and parents were able to attend. A huge congratulations to the two youth graduating as this was a very big achievement for them.
