Six years strong! All seven LPCSC elementary schools have once again earned national recognition as Project Lead The Way Distinguished Schools, and this year, Kesling Intermediate School joins the list for the first time!

This honor recognizes schools that go above and beyond to give students hands-on, real-world STEM learning experiences. From coding in kindergarten to exploring future career pathways at Kesling, our students and teachers are doing incredible work.

Congratulations to the students and staff at Crichfield, Hailmann, Handley, Indian Trail, Kingsbury, Kingsford Heights, Riley, and Kesling Intermediate School!

The La Porte High School Class of 2026 made one last trip through the halls where it all began.

Seniors visited their elementary schools this week for a final walk through familiar hallways and a last moment on the playgrounds that shaped their earliest school memories.

Thank you to the staff who organized the day, the transportation team who made it happen, and to our elementary schools for the warm welcome. Most of all, thank you, Class of 2026. La Porte is proud of you.

We're excited to announce that Chris deBruyn has been named LPCSC's new Director of Business, effective July 1, 2026.

Chris brings a strong combination of experience to the role. He currently serves as Director of Operations and Corporation Treasurer for the MSD of New Durham Township, where he oversees district finances, compliance, facilities, and transportation. Before entering public education, he spent six years at JPMorgan Chase as a Private Client Banker and Branch Vice President.

"Chris brings exactly the kind of financial expertise and leadership experience our district needs as we continue to grow and pursue ambitious goals for our students," said Superintendent Dr. Sandra Wood. "His background in both school finance and private banking gives him a unique perspective, and we are confident he will be a tremendous asset to our leadership team and the La Porte community."

Please join us in welcoming Chris to LPCSC!

We're proud to announce that Kristin Smith has been named the new Principal of Hailmann Elementary School, effective with the 2026-2027 school year.

What makes this announcement especially meaningful: Kristin attended Hailmann from kindergarten through fifth grade and is returning to lead the school that shaped her own education.

Kristin brings more than two decades of experience in Northwest Indiana schools, including previous leadership as Principal of Edgewood Elementary, where she led measurable gains in student achievement. She succeeds Zach Huber, who was named LPCSC Director of Curriculum and Instruction earlier this spring.

Please join us in welcoming Kristin back to Hailmann. We can't wait to see what's ahead for the Huskies under her leadership!
