New language to existing law - Takes effect July 1st

Governor Brad Little signed a bill into law that more-clearly defines where a s*x offender can live. It adds the term “Habitually lives” to make things more restrictive and define limitations for homeless offenders.

The new definition includes any place where that person lives, sleeps, or visits for more than 5 hours more than 5 times per month. It changes the word “residence” to include the sleeping and visiting qualifications.

The law takes effect July 1st.

Final 2025 numbers are out for Idaho's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) cyber tips

2025 was a year of hard work and real impact for Idaho ICAC.

A CyberTip is a report made when child s*xual exploitation is suspected online and sent to NCMEC for investigation. Over 6,000 CyberTips in 2025 in Idaho can be compared to around 3,500 in 2024.

135 ICAC arrests around the state shows the hard work going into combatting this issue and the statewide collaboration that takes. Thank you to all our law enforcement partners across the state for your work in protecting kids online in Idaho.

S*xtortion involves threatening or coercing a child to send s*xual images—often using fear or shame to maintain control.
These numbers represent real cases, real victims, and the importance of reporting.

We are hoping 2026 brings continued collaboration effort and support to continue this work!

Registered Offenders can only attend sport/school events their children are participating in and must have an approved parent/legal guardian plan on file for such attendance. Any violation of this policy may be a citation or arrest for a safety zone violation.

Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, which is observed annually to raise awareness about human trafficking and promote the protection of the rights of victims.

Social media and gaming platforms are increasingly becoming the tool traffickers and other predators use to target, groom and recruit victims. Making sure children know how to be safer online is a top priority.

With many children receiving their first smartphone in elementary school, it's never too early to start talking to your child and answering their questions in an age-appropriate way.

Trick-or-Treat Safety Tips:
1. Children under 12 years old SHOULD NOT trick-or-treat without an adult.
2. Kids who are older than 12 and responsible enough to go out without direct adult supervision SHOULD stay in groups, stick to an agreed-upon route, and follow traffic safety rules.
3. DO check costumes to be sure they don't obstruct your children's vision, and attach reflective clothing, a light, or a glow stick to make them readily visible to others.
4. DON'T allow your trick-or-treaters to eat any candy before they bring it home. Inspect everything first, and remove any treats that aren't factory-wrapped unless you're certain that you know and trust the person who gave them out.
5. No matter their age, kids should ALWAYS stay in well-lit areas, and avoid shortcuts or isolated spots.
6. Children should NEVER enter anyone's home on Halloween unless they're with you or have received your permission to be there.
