**MONTHLY SIREN/EMERGENCY ALERT TEST REMINDER**

THE NEXT TEST IS SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH AT 10 AM

Laramie/Albany County Records and Communications (LARC/Dispatch) & Albany County Emergency Management will test local emergency alert systems on the first Friday of each month at 10 AM. The outdoor warning sirens will sound; however, the Albany County Alerts will only be tested internally and will not go out to the public. To avoid confusion, these tests may be postponed if severe weather is in the area.

The primary purpose of the outdoor warning sirens is to alert the public of severe weather, such as tornado sightings or other life-threatening events. There are 6 siren locations within the City of Laramie and one in each of the towns of Rock River, Albany, and Centennial.

IN CASE OF AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY, you should seek shelter immediately and turn to a local radio/TV station, social media outlets and/or a NOAA Weather Radio for more information.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
East central Albany County in southeastern Wyoming...

* Until 200 PM MDT.

* At 133 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Bosler, or 19
miles north of Laramie, moving northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Sybille Canyon, Bosler, and Baldy Peak.

⛈ There is a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather across the region today, with a Marginal Risk in place for much of the area on Saturday and Sunday as well. Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats Friday and Sunday, with very damaging winds (70+ mph) possible with storms on Saturday. Luckily, tornadoes are not anticipated at this time. The most likely time for the strongest storms will be between 3PM and 9PM.

⛈️Report all major damages to your home/property (residential, commercial & agricultural) to Albany County Emergency Management. Be sure to take pictures and document any damages before you start the cleanup process or begin to rebuild. By reporting these damages, it can be determined if the County will qualify to receive assistance with the recovery process.

Ranchers and producers are also encouraged to report any crop/livestock losses as an agriculture disaster could be declared.

Assist or check on your neighbors, especially the elderly or disabled as they might not be able to reach emergency services.

If you have property damages, report it to your insurance company immediately. Remember homeowner’s insurance does not cover flooding. If you live in a flood prone area, look into flood insurance before the next flood strikes.

Be aware of safety issues after a disaster occurs! Often infrastructure like power lines, roads/bridges or gas lines are disturbed. Be aware of your surroundings when traveling, do not cross flooded roads or go near down power lines.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Albany County in southeastern Wyoming...

* Until 500 PM MDT.

* At 230 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, highways,
streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Yellow Pine Campground, Tie City Campground and Pope Springs.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

August 6th, 4:00PM - Red Flag Warnings continue today through 8 PM MDT. Portions of Carbon and Laramie County will have the Red Flag Warning continue into Friday evening. Very dry and gusty conditions may allow flames to spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued for the entire state of Wyoming on behalf of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. Additional smoke from distant wildfires (mainly in the Pacific NW) will push in from the west and lead to degraded air quality through Thursday.
