On August 11th, the City of Laramie City Council and Albany County Board of Commissioners held a joint Work Session on data centers and what currently exists in Laramie Municipal Code and Albany County regulations related to them. The Work Session saw an amazing turnout of approximately 150 people. Elected officials from both bodies expressed their support in seeing the community come together and turn out to learn more about a hot topic affecting many localities around the State.

The elected bodies hope for a similar turnout for their upcoming Work Session. The City of Laramie City Council and Albany County Board of Commissioners will once again host a joint Work Session on September 8th. The topic this time is the People’s Initiative to Limit Property Tax in Wyoming through a Homeowner’s Property Exemption (commonly referred to as the People’s Initiative).

The Wyoming State Legislature has discussed property tax exemptions, credits, and reductions this year, and a major one among them is the People’s Initiative. To help the residents of Albany County and City of Laramie better understand the People’s Initiative and other proposals at the table, the Work Session will host the Wyoming Taxpayers Association (WTA).

Mr. Hank Hoversland, WTA Executive Director, will be there to present information regarding the People’s Initiative and answer questions residents may have surrounding it. The Wyoming Taxpayers Association will present to the public on the People’s Initiative for the first time at this Work Session.

The Work Session is intended to be a learning opportunity for everyone, including elected officials, residents, and all other interested parties. The meeting will be held at the Laramie Municipal Operations Center at 4373 N 3rd Street, Laramie, WY, on September 8th at 6 PM. The City of Laramie has launched a new GIS Data Hub developed by the Engineering Office. The GIS Data Hub provides a central location for accessing geographic information, maps, and data published by the City of Laramie, along with links to selected resources from other agencies.

The GIS Data Hub includes interactive maps and applications covering topics such as construction and capital projects, a collection of static maps previously located throughout the City website, and a catalog of publicly available City GIS data. The site also provides access to selected maps, data, and other resources from local, state, and federal agencies.

“The goal of the GIS Data Hub is to make the City’s public GIS information easier to find and use,” said Kyle Jordan, GIS Data Analyst. “Previously, maps and GIS resources were located across several areas of the City website. Bringing them together in one location gives residents and other users a more consistent place to find the information they need.”

One week ago, the City of Laramie opened the Laramie Bike Park behind the Laramie Ice and Events Center! We had a fantastic turnout! Thank you to all of our vendors, partners, supporters, and patrons who showed up throughout the entire project and made this Park a success!

We hope everyone in Laramie can enjoy this Park for years to come. Check it out today!

2026 Street Rehabilitation Project – 4th Street Closure Notice

Beginning September 1, 2026, the City of Laramie’s 2026 Street Rehabilitation Project will begin mill and overlay operations on 4th Street.

Work will be completed in two phases:

Phase 1 – Ivinson Avenue to Clark Street
Beginning September 1, 4th Street will be fully closed from Ivinson Avenue through the Clark Street intersection. Work in this section is anticipated to be completed by September 14, 2026, weather permitting.

Phase 2 – Clark Street to Flint Street
Once work between Ivinson Avenue and the Clark Street intersection is complete, construction will continue on 4th Street from Clark Street to Flint Street. A full street closure will also be in place for this section. Work is anticipated to be completed by September 25, 2026, weather permitting.

Motorists should plan for alternate routes and expect construction activity in the area throughout the project.

The City of Laramie appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during construction as we work to improve and maintain Laramie’s roadways.
