At the Laramie Soup Kitchen, you have a variety of time slots and shift tasks to choose from! Each shift is about 1.5 hours long starting at 9:00 a.m. and until 2:30 p.m. Our volunteer shift tasks include Donation Processing, Food Preparation, General, Serving, Cleaning and Flex.
Donation Processing volunteers will help our Food Recovery team process the 600-1,500 lbs. of food we receive each day! The donations we get each day will be used by our kitchen or to go out to other organizations so we can promote food security in our community on a much larger scale.
Food Preparation volunteers will help staff prepare parts of the hot meal, make a variety of cold line sides, and help get the day ready to roll!
General Volunteers will help continue preparation of donation received, help with some general cleaning, and even make other tasty foods! You will help the kitchen staff with the large variety of tasks that need to be done each day.
Serving Volunteers will serve guests and walk them through the choices on the hot and cold lines. You will be interacting with our guests throughout the day. When everyone's been served, you can also go around the Dining Space and help keep it well cleaned and presentable throughout the day.
If you sign up for the cleaning shift, you will help us break down the kitchen and dining room, getting it all clean and ready for the next day!
Finally, our new volunteer shift, the Flex volunteer. You will be able to help wherever is needed most, whether that’s helping in the kitchen or on the serving line, helping serve out guests!
Whether you volunteer at the Laramie Soup Kitchen or another nonprofit in town, we love to know that our community is supported!
