ATTENTION: The Museum has acquired a device that can digitally record any VHS tape. Anyone who can provide the depot with home railroad vhs tapes (not mass produced) around Laramie and the Medicine Bow Mountains will receive a free photo print of their choice from the Depot photo library. Please reply to this post if you have any railroad home vhs tapes that you know of.

The Wyoming Scenic Railroad (WSR) Excursion Train shot on Sony 8mm by James R. "Jim" Jones on June 25th, 1995. This was his first video tape, and also the last time he shot the WSR Excursion Train before its' last run on November 10th, 1995. Even though the entire chase is on YouTube, it is uploaded on here for our many viewers who don't use that platform.

The locations shot on this tape are as follows:

Runby by the Overland Trail Marker on Highway 130.

Runby at Windmill Hollow by Highway 130.

Pacing on Highway 130 from the V-Bar Guest Ranch to Centennial.

Runby over the bridge at Centennial.

Runby at the first crossing at Albany.

Union Pacific 535’s younger sister 616 has apparently just undergone asbestos removal to prepare for a full restoration. If they succeed they will have the only functional UP C-57 2-8-0 locomotive. It’d be great to see how they restore their locomotive to compare to what may need to be done if 535 was ever considered for restoration. Unfortunately 535’s frame is cracked, so it would be extremely taxing.

Restoration work has begun on the historic Union Pacific locomotive...
