Larchmont VAC

Larchmont VAC Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps, serves the Village of Larchmont and Town of Mamaroneck communities, 24/7/365 with emergency ambulance service.

The Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps., or LVAC, is an all-volunteer, New York State non-profit organization. Since our founding in 1972, we have been the sole provider of Emergency Medical Services in the Town of Mamaroneck and the Village of Larchmont. In 1972, a small group of concerned citizens formed our agency and on February 1st of that year we were officially incorporated under the name

of The Volunteer Ambulance Corps of the Unincorporated Area of the Town of Mamaroneck. In August of 1972 members began providing service a few hours each evening and purchased our first ambulance by raising funds through a door-to-door campaign, not unlike the yearly mailer we send out today. Our first ambulance was housed in a converted horse barn on Palmer Avenue, next to our current home, leased from the Town of Mamaroneck for a dollar per year, and yes, they really did collect that dollar! Today our members continue to carry on the tradition of our founding members, to deliver the best possible care to those in need. Beyond providing exemplary medical services, we are proud to offer CPR classes, stand-by ambulances at local events, parades, and fairs, and informational sessions to local community schools, camps, and organizations. We are always recruiting new members! Please visit our website at www.larchmontvac.org to learn more and submit your application! This account is not monitored 24/7, in an emergency call 911.

We are honored to have been recognized as “EMS Agency of the Year” by Westchester REMSCO this past Tuesday!

This award reflects the dedication, compassion, and countless hours of service from so many individuals, including past and present members, former line officers, and everyone who has helped shape Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps into what it is today. It was especially meaningful to celebrate this achievement alongside past and present members, including former line officers.

Thank you to our community for your continued support, to those who have donated to help us serve our residents, and to the Town Board, several of whom joined us Tuesday night. Most importantly, thank you to every member, past and present, whose commitment to LVAC makes recognition like this possible!

🚨🏆 BIG NEWS! 🏆🚨

We are beyond proud to share that the Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps has been named “Agency of the Year” by REMSCO!

We are humbled to receive this recognition and acknowledge it took the efforts and support of many. This award belongs to every member who has answered the call, day or night, for more than 50 years.

It serves as a testament to the training and dedication of our members. For over 50 years our motto has been “Second to None” a standard we continue to exceed.

From a hand-me-down ambulance in a small garage in 1972 to 13,000+ volunteer hours and nearly 1,700 calls answered in 2025, our goal remains the same to provide the highest quality medical care to those in need. None of this would be possible without our members, our community, and the generosity of our donors.

We look forward to many more years of service to our community. To our members past and present: THANK YOU. This is your award! 🚑

Almost two dozen calls for service this weekend had our crews operating both our ambulances on several occasions in our primary and secondary response areas! On more than one occasion we found ourselves meeting up at our local hospitals during patient transfers.

Did you know that our hardworking EMTs and drivers are made up of members of the community like YOU! Did you also know that our ambulances are funded solely by the donors in OUR community? Head over to our website to learn more, apply, or donate today!

First arriving units from Larchmont Professional Fire Fighters Association discovered multiple smoking manholes. Shortly after arrival one manhole exploded causing minor injury to a member of service who was transported for non-life threatening injuries. Units operated for approximately 3 hours before being released by command.

This incident once again showed the strong partnership we have with our response partners from Larchmont and Mamaroneck.

Early yesterday morning crews were dispatched to I95 NB for a motor vehicle accident involving New York State Police. Units arrived on scene to a three car accident with all occupants having self-extricated.

While performing a traffic stop, a NYSP car was struck by a SUV. Thankfully both troopers were out of the car at the time of the accident and sustained only minor injuries.

This accident serves as an important reminder that when approaching emergency vehicles on the highway to slow down and move over

An EMS staging area was established and LVAC assumed EMS operational command from Mamaroneck EMS after they transported two high priority patients. Additionally, alongside response out partners from Mamaroneck EMS, Harrison EMS, Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and Port Chester/Rye/Rye Brook EMS we provided rapid treatment and transport of a total of six patients from the fire scene.

Our units operated for approximately 4 hours before being released by Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department command.

Larchmont VAC would like to extend an enormous deal of thanks to the mutual aid departments who showed up to help in this effort

The combined efforts of all agencies led to safe and successful operation.
