‼️MIKE JOHNSON SAYS “SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE” IS BEING MISUNDERSTOOD
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson is calling attention to what he believes is a widespread misunderstanding of the phrase “separation of church and state.”
Speaking at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast, Johnson explained that the phrase does not appear in the Constitution, but comes from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson.
According to Johnson, the original intent was not to remove faith from public life—but to protect the church from government control.
He emphasized that America’s Founders saw moral and religious conviction as essential to sustaining freedom and a healthy society.
Johnson also described the current cultural moment as a “spiritual battle,” urging Americans to return to prayer and seek God openly.
📖 Psalm 33:12
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…”
His remarks reflect a broader conversation taking place across the country—about the role of faith in public life and whether it should be central or pushed to the margins.
For many believers, the issue is not political—
It is spiritual.
📖 2 Chronicles 7:14
“If My people… will humble themselves and pray… then I will hear from heaven.”
As these discussions continue, Johnson’s message echoes a growing call among some leaders:
That the strength of a nation is not just found in policy—
But in its willingness to seek God.
