Thanks to everyone who attended this morning’s Dicovering Butterflies Program! We caught lot of Ceraunus Blue’s, a Cloudless Sulfer, a Lyside Sulfur, and an American Snout. We also caught lots of little Damselflies and a Roseate Skimmer Dragonfly! Tons of fun 😊🦋

Hi Laredo and Webb County! These are the current depth measurements for YOUR lake as of August 13, 2026. The water level is still low, so please use caution with all watercraft and practice safe boating at all times. The main boat ramp remains open and the boat dock is still in place. Please use caution when pulling up to the boat dock as the water continues to drop.

As school starts back up again and the summer comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to highlight our summer intern- Abel Cruz! As he leaves us and returns back to school, we want to thank him for all his hard work and wish him the absolute best in his future career! Abel wrote up a little bit about his experience this past summer:

"Hello, my name is Abel Cruz, and I have had the opportunity to work and live at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park as a summer intern.

During my time at the park, I have had the opportunity to learn about many different aspects of park operations, including maintenance, interpretation programs, and being one of the first points of contact for visitors at park headquarters.

My experience at the park has been nothing short of great. I never expected to receive an experience like this anywhere else, and I am extremely grateful for everything I have learned and everyone I have met along the way. I hope to use this experience as a stepping stone toward my career goals. As of now, those goals include getting back into TPWD as a park police officer or game warden, or even something as simple as volunteering at a local state park back home once I graduate from Sam Houston State University.

Regardless of where this experience takes me, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I was given, even living in a tent through the summer heat was definitely an experience of its own.
