Happy Boss’s Day to one of the best, Fire Marshal Felix Nunez!

Thank you for always leading with integrity, patience, and heart. You’ve built a team that works hard because you inspire it, and you never hesitate to jump in right alongside us.

This year, the Webb County Fire Marshal’s Office had the incredible honor of hosting the WinterGarden Fall Meeting, and our hearts are truly full of gratitude. It was such a privilege to welcome so many familiar faces and to see everyone come together to make this event a complete success.

We would like to sincerely thank the Laredo Fire Department for allowing us to use their training facility. Your continued support is deeply appreciated. A very special thank you to Suarez Restaurants for their generosity and for once again providing a very delicious lunch for everyone in attendance. To the Laredo Fire Federal Credit Union thank you for setting up such a great booth that brightened the day for so many of us.

To all of our volunteers, we cannot thank you enough. You gave your time, your effort, and your heart to make sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. None of this would have been possible without your dedication and teamwork.

And of course, a huge congratulations to the Laredo Fire Training Crew for taking home first place in both the Pumper Race and Water Polo.

From all of us at the Webb County Fire Marshal’s Office, thank you. Thank you for showing up, for helping, for sharing your support, and for reminding us what true community looks like. We are beyond grateful to be surrounded by people like you. ❤️🔥

For the past few weeks, our amazing Investigator and Inspectors — Butterfield, Jaime, and De Leon — have been out and about spreading back-to-school joy! 🎒✏️ They’ve delivered supplies (and smiles 😄) to kids in Santa Teresita, Mirando, Peñitas, and today, you’ll find them at El Eden! If you see them out there, be sure to stop by and say hi! 👋

Big congratulations to our Webb County Fire Marshal’s Office team for taking 2nd place in both ribs and fajitas at the 1st Annual Battle of the Badges Cook-Off!

Eddie showed up ready to cook and absolutely delivered, bringing the heat and the flavor. Huge shoutout to our dream team behind the scenes: Gilberto, Amanda, Chayo, and Clarissa. You all made it come together and kept the momentum going strong.

Special thanks to Fire Marshal Felix Nuñez for taking the time to stop by and support the team. Leadership like that truly makes a difference.

Another win for Webb County and one more trophy for the shelf.

Please join us in welcoming three new team members to the Fire Marshal’s Office!

We’re proud to introduce three licensed peace officers who will now be serving out in the field across Webb County as part of our team:

• Gilbert De Leon – Fire Inspector
• Bill Butterfield – Fire Inspector / Arson Investigator
• Eddie Jaime – Fire Inspector / Arson Investigator

They’ll be working alongside our department conducting inspections, enforcing fire codes, and assisting with fire investigations to help ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

We’re excited to have them on board and look forward to the positive impact they’ll bring to Webb County. If you see them out in the field, feel free to say hello!

Welcome to the team!

🔥 Fire Marshal’s Office Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Incoming! 🌧️⚡

🚨 Heads up, Webb County! We’re expecting significant rainfall in the coming days. While the rain might be welcome, it also brings potential dangers. Stay safe by following these important tips:

✅ Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you off your feet, and 12 inches can sweep away a car. Never drive through flooded roads!

✅ Prepare for Flash Floods – If you live in a low-lying area, have an evacuation plan. Move valuables to higher ground and keep emergency supplies ready.

✅ Fire Safety Still Matters! Did you know lightning strikes cause thousands of fires each year? If you hear thunder, stay indoors and unplug electronics. Avoid using wired appliances during storms.

✅ Power Outages? Stay Safe! If using generators, never run them indoors or in enclosed spaces to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

✅ Watch for Road Closures & Emergency Updates – Follow local emergency services for real-time alerts.

Stay safe, stay informed, and remember: when in doubt, TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!

A system will be moving through South Texas beginning Today, bringing high rainfall amounts through Friday. If traveling through South Texas, ensure you give yourself plenty of buffer to reach your destination and obey road closure signs. Remember, Turn Around Don't Drown!
