🚨📢Sheriff Martin Cuéllar today provided an update that the female German Shepherd mix who was found on the side of the road on Highway 359 near Pueblo Nuevo was not microchipped and has found her furever home! A good samaritan who saw the post on Facebook expressed a strong interest in the dog and now the two are together.

Kudos to Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kassandra Vega for opening her heart and home to what it looks like a black female German Shepherd mix. Deputy Vega found the dog on Highway 359 east of Pueblo Nuevo during yesterday morning’s thunderstorms. The dog was very scared and almost got run over, but was friendly enough to allow Deputy Vega to approach her and go with her. We will have her scanned for a microchip in hopes of finding the owner, and will keep you all updated. “Thank you, Deputy Vega, for this act of kindness. You have truly demonstrated that you are one of Webb County’s finest,” said Sheriff Martin Cuéllar. “Hopefully she will be reunited with its owner.”

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Division has continued its commitment to increasing awareness of the services available throughout Webb County. As part of this ongoing outreach, the division visited United South High School for a campus‑wide Mental Health Fair.
During the event, Geraldine Leven, Myrna Heard and the Mental Health Unit Officers engaged directly with students, offering insight into the mental health resources provided by the Sheriff’s Office and emphasizing the importance of emotional well‑being. Their booth featured an educational game designed to spark conversation and make mental health topics approachable and relatable for young people. Students showed exceptional enthusiasm, demonstrating a genuine interest in understanding how mental health impacts their daily lives. Sheriff Martin Cuellar said, “Events like this highlight the power of community partnerships and the positive impact of open dialogue on mental wellness. Thank you United South High School for the invitation.”
