🚨Xiomarra Milann Named Laredo’s Poet Laureate for 2026-2028

Laredo has named Xiomarra Milann as the City of Laredo Poet Laureate for the 2026-2028 term.

Milann is a borderland storyteller, multidisciplinary artist, activist and educator with roots in Laredo. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from UTEP and has been recognized through fellowships, literary awards and nominations.

During her two-year term, Milann will lead public readings, workshops and other City and Library events aimed at making poetry more accessible to residents of all ages.

Her vision is to show how poetry can extend beyond the page through storytelling, music, visual art and the everyday experiences that shape Laredo.

This month, we’re on a mission to help as many deserving animals as possible find their forever homes. Every adoption creates space for another pet in need and gives a furry friend the second chance they deserve.
