The National Weather Service has issued another 🚩RED FLAG WARNING 🚩today (3/28/26) for Grundy County from noon to 8pm.

Please do not burn anything during this time — that includes brush piles, trash, barrels, or even “just a little fire.” CRP fields definitely do not need burned today… they’ll still be there tomorrow.

Dry conditions and strong winds can turn a small flame into a fast-moving fire in seconds. Avoid parking in tall grass, tossing ci******es, or using equipment that can spark.

Laredo Fire was paged back out to a timber fire on 16th Street earlier today. Brush 1 and Brush 2 responded, with crews on scene for about an hour getting the fire under control.

With how dry and windy it’s been, fires are spreading quickly. Please be mindful of any burning and help us keep calls down this weekend.

Bless this crew!

Laredo Fire fought two fires at once!

Crew one was mutual aid to a Chula fire!

Crew two was called to a brush/timber fire near Rural Dale. Crew one then showed up to assist crew two.

These boys are determined, selfless, tireless and just all over the best crew!! They deserve a big round of applause for their dedication today!

Thanks for everyone’s help today!

🇺🇸 Remembering the 343 🇺🇸

Today we pause to honor the 343 brave firefighters who gave their lives on September 11, 2001. They ran toward danger when so many were running away—answering the call with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to others.

We will never forget their heroism, nor the families, friends, and fellow firefighters who continue to carry their memory forward.

Let us live each day in a way that honors their legacy—by serving with integrity, protecting our neighbors, and remembering that true strength is found in selfless service.

IT IS NOT TO BE A DUMPING CENTER FOR YOUR GARBAGE.

If you need your large items and trash picked up, please reach out to our city hall and they will be able to assist you with our trash removal service number.

RED FLAG WARNING today (3/18/25) from 11am to 8pm for Grundy County. Please avoid any outdoor burning. If any fires ignite, they could spread rapidly due to the critical fire weather conditions.

Warm, dry, and windy conditions are expected tomorrow which will lead to a high fire danger. As such, a Red Flag warning is in effect from noon until 8PM. Burning is highly discouraged! Otherwise, high temperatures will rise into the low to mid 70s under sunny skies and winds gusting 20 to 30 mph out of the southwest.
