Hannah Dowd, Kinship Licensing Specialist of Family Support Services Pasco & Pinellas Counties, sat down with Amber Freeman, host of Bloom Tampa Bay, to talk about how foster care is about community, hope and healing.

Hannah explains, "When they are placed in a foster home, that foster parent is going to be a crucial role in getting that child to a good place. Having the supports for that child, being able to advocate for their child, and, basically, leaning on the community resources that are at hand."

Hannah shares a story of "the karate kid" which highlights the importance of community support and the life-changing impact foster families can have on children in care.

One of our best moves on to retirement: Cindy Bates has been with Family Support Services Pasco & Pinellas Counties since our inception in this community and brings an incredible 18 years of child welfare experience. She is truly a staple of our team and is best known for her kindness and her ability to make anyone feel like no stranger at all. She will be deeply missed, both professionally and personally. We wish her joy, relaxation, meaningful adventures and cherished moments. We will miss you, Cindy! 💖
