As part of a realignment of services, passport services at PGCMLS will be discontinued effective September 30, 2026. Please note the appointment calendar will close for all dates after September 30.

Helpful information and alternatives:
If you are looking to obtain or renew a passport, first carefully read and review the U.S. Department of State passport application and renewal information. Once you have read over carefully and prepared your materials according to your passport needs, you can visit a Passport Acceptance Facility for processing.

Alternative passport acceptance locations in Prince George’s County can be found through the U.S. Department of State’s Passport Acceptance Facility Locator, or at:

- Clerk of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County
- City of Laurel Passport Office
- Local Post Offices
Please Note: Only some USPS locations provide photo services and walk-in hours.

If you’ve ever searched our catalog and found we don’t have the item you’re looking for, it may be disappointing. But what you may not have tried is using PGCMLS’ free interlibrary loan (ILL) service!

Through ILL on the Marina platform, PGCMLS cardholders can request materials from other Maryland library systems and have them delivered to their preferred PGCMLS branch library.

PGCMLS honors the life and legacy of Dolly Parton — not only a talented artist, but a generous philanthropist and literacy champion. Because of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, PGCMLS has delivered more than one million books to children in Prince George’s County ages 0-5 free of charge — providing our littlest community members with books — and memories — to last a lifetime.

Longtime PGCMLS staff member Jiselle has experienced the joy and breadth of Books from Birth with both of her young children — her oldest, now entering Kindergarten, has just phased out of the program as her youngest son is starting.

“It was so exciting for Caspian to get each new book in the mail every month, and now he is excited to start reading to Sammy as he gets his books,” Jisselle shared.

Jisselle was recently reminded of just how valuable of a resource the Books from Birth program is when a family member shared her jealousy of Jisselle’s access to the PGCMLS Books from Birth program.

“How beautiful to be able to receive all these books in the mail!” Jisselle said. “Gosh, it is really special.”

Through Books from Birth and Dolly Patron’s Imagination Library, the next generation of Prince George’s youth will be well on their way to exploring stories, friends, and cultures through the expansive worlds of books.

Dolly's family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Imagination Library. To directly support Imagination Library families in Prince George's County, donations can be made through the PGCMLS Foundation's Books from Birth fund: pgcmls.info/donate
