I am excited to share that Dr. Shawn Joseph has been appointed as the permanent Superintendent of Prince George’s County Public Schools. Since stepping in as Interim Superintendent in July 2025, Dr. Joseph has been driving real progress across the district, from stabilizing the budget to reducing teacher vacancies to strengthening daily operations for our students and educators.

Now, he will continue this work through a new strategic plan focused on accelerating student achievement, supporting our workforce, expanding opportunities, and building even stronger partnerships with families and communities.

This is an important moment for our school system. We are moving forward with clear direction, strong leadership, and a commitment to delivering the high‑quality education our children deserve.

The Community Coffee Circle at Cameron Grove was such a joy. There’s nothing better than connecting with our seniors, sharing real conversations, and talking about the common‑sense solutions that keep our communities strong.

Thank you to the residents of Cameron Grove for the warm welcome, the thoughtful dialogue, and of course; the coffee and donuts.

I am excited to share a major milestone in Prince George’s County’s growth as a media and entertainment hub.

Revolutionary VP Studios is investing here to open a state‑of‑the‑art, 38,000 square foot production facility right here in Laurel.

This space will reshape how film, television, podcasts, and digital content are created on the East Coast. It will feature a 156 foot by 26 foot LED volumetric wall, immersive real‑time environments, advanced production technology, and a one‑of‑a‑kind event venue for high‑end gatherings.

This investment means jobs, innovation, and new opportunities for our residents. It strengthens our creative economy and builds on the momentum we are seeing across the county, including transformative projects like the Sphere at National Harbor.

Prince George’s County is rising. We are attracting world‑class partners, expanding opportunity, and shaping a more innovative future for our community.

BIG NEWS: The World Cup is coming to Prince George’s County in a major way. We are launching the Prince George’s County World Cup Festival, a free two‑day celebration of soccer, culture, and community for families across our county.

On June 12, we will transform the Sports and Learning Complex into a full World Cup experience with giant LED screens, live entertainment, food trucks, and a festival atmosphere as we cheer on Team USA.

On June 13, we continue the excitement with our Youth World Championship, where young athletes will represent countries from around the world and showcase the global diversity that makes Prince George’s County shine.

Bring your family. Bring your flags. Bring your energy. Let’s show the world how Prince George’s County celebrates. I look forward to seeing you there.
