***REGARDING RNR STATEMENT MAILING***

I have been made aware that there are problems with the Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR) mailings. Citizens are receiving multiple RNR statements in the same envelope, sometimes for properties they do not own.

These mailings are a contracted service and the contractor has been notified. On Monday morning I will be working with the contractor to remedy the issue.

I sincerely apologize for the confusion. Please watch this page for an update as we work for a solution.

Thank you for your understanding.

A LEVEL 2 BURN BAN is now in effect for Pawnee County Kansas Monday Aug 10, 2026 at 4:00pm until further notice. The Burn Ban will continue until environmental conditions improve closer to the weekend when temperatures lower and humidity rises. Near record high temperatures are expected across much of the state, which will continue to dry fuels and increase their receptiveness to ignition. As a result, we anticipate an environment supportive of above normal fire behavior.

No open burning in Pawnee County of any kind. Critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of winds, low relative humidity, and extremely warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. If you have performed a recent fire, please check for embers or hot coals that can reignite a fire. If you need help extinguishing a recent fire or checking embers, please call Pawnee County Dispatch at 620-285-8545.
