* Until 145 AM CDT.

* At 106 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Chain O`
Lakes-King, or 6 miles west of Waupaca, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* This severe thunderstorm will be near...
Chain O` Lakes-King and Hartman Creek State Park around 110 AM CDT.
Waupaca around 115 AM CDT.
Fremont around 130 AM CDT.

Other locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm include King,
Rural, Sheridan, Emmons Creek Barrens, Scandinavia, Lind Center,
Ogdensburg, Weyauwega, Manawa and Royalton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing
dangerous hail and damaging winds.

Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter
immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built
structure.

Gold Cross has some tips to answer the common question, “How do I know if I should call 911?”

For medical calls, call 911 for symptoms like:
➡️ chest pain
➡️ difficulty breathing
➡️ signs of a stroke
➡️ severe bleeding
➡️ loss of consciousness
➡️ major injury
➡️ any situation in which someone’s condition appears life-threatening.

📞 When in doubt, call 911.

One of the most common questions people have is:“How do I know if I should call 911?”

If you are concerned that someone may be experiencing a serious medical emergency, it is better to call and let trained professionals assess the situation than to wait and risk delaying care.

Call 911 for symptoms such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of a stroke, severe bleeding, loss of consciousness, major injury, or any situation in which someone’s condition appears life-threatening.

When you call, stay as calm as possible, answer the dispatcher’s questions, follow instructions, and remain on the line until you are told to hang up.

Siren testing resumes this Saturday 📢

Winnebago County will RESUME outdoor warning siren testing THIS SATURDAY, August 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.

Testing the sirens is an important part of emergency preparedness.
🔧 It allows for efficient maintenance
🔊 It verifies acoustic coverage
📢 It familiarizes residents with the emergency siren sound
⌛ It ensures timely response to seek shelter in times of real emergency events

Check on your family and friends, who were impacted by the July 27 severe weather, to see if they would like extra support during the testing.

After the severe weather that occurred on July 27, some residents may experience emotional distress during the weekly siren testing. Winnebago County Crisis Center has a 24 hour, 7 days a week hotline. If you are in need of immediate support for mental health and/or an emotional emergency, call: 920-233-7707.

Additionally, residents have several mental health resources available through the Winnebago County Multi-Agency Resource Center. Please visit the following link to find assistance: https://www.winnebagocountywi.gov/997/Mental-Health-Support.

🚨ATW Full-Scale Emergency Exercise TOMORROW🚨

We’ll be conducting a full-scale emergency training exercise tomorrow night, August 19, at ATW. You may see emergency personnel, actors, fire trucks, sirens, and smoke around the airport campus.

THIS IS ONLY A DRILL! There is no real emergency.

Flights will not be affected, and the airport will operate as normal. These exercises are an important part of our ongoing safety training and help our team and emergency responders stay prepared.
