The Las Animas Fire Department would like to inform the community that the annual fireworks display will proceed as scheduled, July 4th at the Las Animas Football Field.

We understand the concerns regarding current fire conditions and want to assure the public that this decision was made after careful consideration. The launch site presents minimal fire hazard, one being dirt and the other being an irrigated area. The Las Animas Fire Department will have personnel, apparatus, and firefighting equipment on scene throughout the event to monitor conditions and respond immediately if necessary.

The safety of our community, firefighters, and surrounding area remains our highest priority. We appreciate the continued support of our community and look forward to providing a safe and enjoyable Independence Day celebration for everyone.

The fire Department will be doing firework collections July 2nd and 3rd starting around 6:30 pm. We appreciate everyone’s continued support

With fires raging across Colorado, it's essential for us to remember the men and women behind the steering wheel and on the ground, helping to protect our communities from the unthinkable. These three gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect places far from their own homes, making a difference in places where they were not from. Now, we want the whole world to remember their names and their sacrifices because they deserve to be remembered. They will always be remembered. To their families and communities: Our hearts and prayers go out to you. May they rest in Eternal peace

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone touched by this tragedy. To the crew members that were injured we hope for a speedy recovery. To the family and of the fire fighters who lost their lives, we are praying for you at this time and our hearts are with you.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service is devastated to share that three wildland firefighters lost their lives on Saturday, June 27, as part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado-Utah border. Additionally, two crew members were injured in the line of duty and have been transported to a hospital.

Our immediate focus is on supporting their families, friends, and fellow crewmates during this incredibly difficult time.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service stands united with the USDA Forest Service in grief and in our unwavering support for the loved ones left behind. Their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Additional details will be shared as they are able to be released.
