This months training consisted of crime scene preservation and evidence search. Not every mission Search and Rescue goes on is a rescue. Preserving the integrity of a crime scene is crucial in search and rescue operations as it ensures that all evidence is accurately collected and analyzed. Every detail matters, from the smallest fragment to the largest piece of evidence, in piecing together the truth.

At 0600 this morning, DACSAR was activated to help find a lost hiker on the continental divide trail in the Gila mountains. At approximately 1030, DACSAR, Mesilla Valley SAR, Grant County SAR and Organ Mountain Technical Rescue Squad located the individual. The hiker was found safe and healthy.
