🗳️ From Stickers to Ballots — We’re Helping Raise the Next Generation of Voters!

One of the things I love most about election work is seeing familiar faces walk through the doors to vote. Elections are local. You see childhood friends, neighbors, former teachers, cousins, parents bringing their kids, and entire families taking part in democracy together.

Fun Fact! I've known Krystal since fifth grade, so moments like this are especially meaningful to me. 💙

For years, Amanda López Askin, our team, and I have worked alongside students, teachers, and families to promote civic engagement and help young people understand the importance of democracy and public service. That work starts long before someone is old enough to cast a real ballot.

We’re excited to share that the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office received a 2025 Clearie Honorable Mention from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission for TWO of our voter engagement programs:

✅ Our bilingual “I Voted” sticker
🎨 A student-designed “Future Voter” sticker created by students at Raíces del Saber Xinachtli Community School
🗳️ Tiny Ballot Bash, where kids get their own ballot, booth, and first glimpse of democracy in action

Sometimes democracy looks like a little girl with a bow in her hair, carefully feeding her ballot into the ballot box and walking away proud with a sticker in her hand. Those moments matter. 💙
