A well-deserved spotlight for Ms. Amanda Stayton, an outstanding social worker at Halle Hewetson Elementary!

Surrounded by her students and colleagues, Ms. Stayton was surprised during an all-school assembly with the first UNR Excellence in Education Award of the school year. Through programs like Bear Buddy, she creates meaningful connections and a culture of belonging that helps students feel supported, connected and ready to thrive.

Along with the honor, Ms. Stayton received a plaque, a letter signed by UNR President Sandoval and tickets to the UNR vs. UNLV football game later this season.

Congratulations, Ms. Stayton! Your impact on the Hewetson community is truly something to celebrate!

The first UNLV Teacher of the Game Award goes to... Ms. Yesenia Talavera!

This Orr Middle School Computer Science teacher is bringing the right game plan to the classroom, challenging students to think critically, solve problems and push beyond what they thought possible.

Her nomination praised her for “removing barriers and creating multiple pathways” for students to succeed, both in and out of the classroom.

Now, she’s taking the field! Ms. Talavera will be honored during the Rebels home opener in front of thousands of fans. Congratulations, Ms. Talavera!

What a way to kick off the school year at Thiriot Elementary School.

Findlay Subaru of Las Vegas surprised educators with a celebratory breakfast, classroom supply kits and a $15,000 donation through Subaru Loves Learning. The contribution will provide $500 in classroom funding for 25 teachers, reaching more than 525 students.

We are grateful to Findlay Subaru for making educators feel celebrated and investing in the classrooms and students they serve. We appreciate this meaningful partnership and all the ways our community comes together to support CCSD educators.

A special thank you to Serena Neel and her team for welcoming the teachers and staff of Piggott Elementary back with an incredible surprise in celebration of their recent National Gold Star School designation.

One week down and a great school year ahead! We hope the new appliances, lunch, snacks and festive decorations helped make the first week a little more special and set the tone for an amazing year ahead.

A warm welcome to our newest Clark County School District Adopt A School community partner, Valiente Mott Injury Attorneys! 🎉

After connecting with Park Elementary School to learn about their greatest needs, the team at Valiente Mott stepped up in a big way. The school requested 50 filled backpacks for students with the greatest needs, along with essential classroom supplies for teachers and they delivered everything that was requested and more!
