Scams and fraud don't just impact individual victims, they hurt small businesses, and threaten the financial security of Nevada families. We must invest in the tools and resources needed to combat these growing threats. Great read highlighting this important issue.

After decades in law enforcement and public service, I've seen a lot of crimes evolve. But few threats have grown as fast or proven as difficult to combat as the wave of online scams and fraud now targeting Nevadans every single day.

We were honored to welcome State Senator Rochelle Nguyen, Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor Matt McNair, Regent Heather Brown, Councilman Brian Knudsen, and Alexander Fuller for a visit to learn more about the vital role our practice plan, UNLV Health, plays as the clinical classroom for both medical students and residents.

Beyond education, they saw firsthand the exceptional care, compassion, and dedication our faculty clinicians bring to patients every day. Their commitment to serving our community while training the next generation of physicians is truly inspiring.

Grateful for today’s roundtable with Councilman Brian Knudsen, NSHE Regent Heather Brown, Chancellor Matt McNair, and the UNLV Health and Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV team. Thank you to Dean Alison Netski for leading such a great conversation — from UNLV Health’s Practice Plan to the real impact federal Medicaid changes could have on Nevada families.

Thank you to KSNV News 3, Las Vegas for shining a light on two extraordinary young women — Las Vegas high school students, Chloe Kim and Ilana Stone. They didn’t wait for someone else to solve this problem. They built the Wellness Box Foundation, have distributed over 20,000 wellness kits across 7 states and 4 countries, and Chloe even wrote a children’s book, Penny’s First Period, to help young girls navigate menstruation with confidence. At 17. Let that sink in.
When young people lead with this kind of purpose, our job as lawmakers and community members is simple: show up, amplify, and get out of the way.

Community leaders, lawmakers and advocates gathered in the southwest Las Vegas valley today for “Breaking the Stigma,” a special event recognizing Period Povert

While I recently transitioned my Legislative Advisory position with the Nevada Office of Minority Health and Equity (NOMHE) over to Assemblymember Erica Mosca, my connection to this incredible organization hasn’t ended — and I wouldn’t want it to! I’ve truly valued participating in the meaningful work NOMHE does to advance health equity for minority and marginalized communities across our state, and I look forward to continuing to support their mission.
Speaking of getting involved — NOMHE is currently looking for people to serve on their Advisory Committee, and I’d love to see passionate community members step up! Per NRS 232.482, the Advisory Committee is made up of 9 members appointed by the NV Board of Health or the Director of the Department of Human Services. There are currently TWO vacancies, and they are especially seeking candidates who reflect the following profiles:
✅ Northern Nevada resident
✅ Rural resident
✅ Native American
✅ Health professional
✅ Faith leader
If this sounds like you — or someone you know — I encourage you to apply! Complete the application and submit your resume and letter of interest here:

Questions? Reach out to NOMHE Program Manager Tina Dortch at [email protected] or 702-486-2151.
Health equity work matters. Your voice on this committee could make a real difference.

An amazing afternoon watching Hyde Park Middle School’s production of Shrek The Musical JR.

Watching my daughter’s friends perform was incredible. Huge shoutout to the BEST Donkey ever, Oliva H, and to the multi-talented Ali H for bringing so many characters to life 👏

Big thanks to Ms. Kelly Heilman and all the amazing teachers who made this production possible.

And I loved the reminder “Lord Farquaad,” (Aidan)—schools like Hyde Park (nearly 70 years old!) need our support.

So let’s show up: GIVE. GIVE. GIVE.

So grateful to have had the opportunity to speak with students in Professor Elenis Wong’s class at UNLV.

The last time I visited, I was reminded just how powerful these spaces are—where students are exploring politics, identity, and leadership in such thoughtful and meaningful ways. Being able to share my journey as a multi-racial AANHPI woman in public service—and more importantly, to hear from students about their own experiences—was truly inspiring.

Moments like these stay with me. They reinforce why representation matters and why we must continue creating pathways for the next generation of leaders to step forward.

Looking forward to a really important conversation at UNLV this week.

For the past several years, we’ve been working on cannabis policy in Nevada—but one of the biggest questions still remains: how does it intersect with our gaming and tourism economy?

I’ll be joining a panel at the 3rd Annual Gaming & Cannabis Policy Discussion hosted by UNLV Cannabis Policy Institute and International Gaming Institute to dig into that question—and what comes next.

🗓 May 1 | 1:30–3 PM
📍 Thomas & Mack Moot Court at UNLV

If you’re interested in where policy is headed, I hope you’ll join us.

Honored to join the Nevada Coalition for Psychedelic Medicines for a powerful conversation in Las Vegas.

After a screening of In Waves and War, I’ll be on a panel discussing new, evidence-based approaches to mental health—especially for our veterans and first responders.

Grateful to work alongside advocates pushing for thoughtful, compassionate solutions here in Nevada.
