03/11/2020

In order to keep all of our clients and support staff as safe as possible as measures are being taken to address COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have implemented the following new procedures for the DigiMart Food Pantry.

1.) We will be issuing Emergency Boxes at LSSN instead of taking orders as normal through the DigiMart Kiosks.
2.) Individuals accessing the DigiMart will be asked to remain outside to sign in and receive their Emergency Box.
3.) The DigiMart will now open at 9:00 a.m. and will remain open Monday - Thursday.

If you are feeling sick, please do not come wait in line for the pantry! The DigiMart system will still be up and accessible from your home using a laptop, tablet, or phone with an internet connection. You will be able to place your order from home and pick up as normal.

These procedures will remain in place until further notice.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Nutrition Services Manager Maria at [email protected].

Wow! This morning a Girl Scout troop led by Sarah from Christ the Servant Lutheran Church delivered a donation of over 600 BOXES of Girl Scout cookies to LSSN for our DigiMart Food Pantry. The troop decided they wanted to give cookies to LSSN so that individuals visiting our pantry could not just get their basic groceries but also get a special treat -- a box of delicious cookies.Thank you so much to Sarah and all of the Girl Scouts at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church for such a generous and delicious gift!

What a day for LSSN! Yesterday, LSSN welcomed the wonderful women of Nevada Women's Philanthropy in the morning as they volunteered for an Open Air Market at LSSN's headquarters. With their help, we were able to provide over 600 people in our community with fresh pears, potatoes, bread, eggs, and more, all in a single morning!

Then, in the afternoon, LSSN was joined by Nevada Women's Philanthropy, County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a representative for Congresswoman Susie Lee, Nevada HAND, and many of our board members, volunteers, and longtime supporters as we broke ground on our new DigiMart Expansion! Thanks to NWP's 2019 Impact Grant of $490,000, we will be expanding our DigiMart by 2,308 square feet, allowing us to serve an additional 5,000 individuals each year.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support us on such a monumental day in LSSN's history, and we look forward to keeping you updated on the DigiMart expansion in the coming months!

Last April, the Southern Nevada Homeless Continuum of Care, in partnership with the National Alliance to End Homelessness, launched the Rapid Rehousing Learning Collaborative to provide a learning opportunity to help organizations improve their rapid re-housing services to homeless individuals and families. The collaboration provided 10 partner agencies tools to effectively assist homeless individuals and families in our community as they move from homelessness to permanent housing. LSSN was among 10 agencies to take part in the #500Home100DaysSNV Challenge to address the homeless crisis in our community and our agency met 57% of our goal. As a group we reached #305 of our #500 goal. Our Chief Programs Director, Cherry Richardson, even won the Rockstar Award -- although Mark Zellmer, Empowerment Services Manager, accepted it in her absence. We are pumped to continue to implement the skills we took away from the workshops and use them to make an impact towards ending homelessness in our community!

Oats will warm you up as well as provide fuel for the day. Oats are a whole-grain food and having oatmeal for breakfast will help you meet the goal of making half your grains whole grains! Oatmeal is a good source of both insoluble and soluble fiber. Soluble fiber helps to lower cholesterol whereas insoluble fiber supports gut health and helps you feel more full. Oatmeal also contains protein, iron, and a host of other nutrients! Search for whole, rolled, dry oats or plain instant/quick oats to avoid added sugars. You can always mix in fruit, nuts, cinnamon, or a little brown sugar to spruce it up. Here are some oatmeal recipes:

Our Story

Lutheran Social Services of Nevada (LSSN) is a trusted Las Vegas grassroots nonprofit organization. A dedicated group of local volunteers started the agency in 1985 by providing food and clothing to our community members. It has since grown to become an organization known for its diverse services, including our online food pantry, massive food distribution, nutrition education classes and live cooking demonstrations, senior citizen meal services, homeless prevention and rapid rehousing, mainstream benefits applications, and other safety net services. Hi my name is julissa l would like to now if you help with food donation or other stuff would like to now l am new in Las Vegas my cell number is 9514501890
I have been extremely satisfied with LSSN as they really help fill our pantry. However, yesterday we were there to pick our food assistance and the girl behind me said you, have a bedbug on you back, I turned to my husband and asked do I? He didn't seem to see it. We continued on in line and when we got signed in we were asked to come out side. we followed the man outside and he told us that the girl that saw the bug said I was infested with them. I have never been so insulted or embarrassed in my life. The gentleman said wait in your car and we will bring your food out..In the box was canned vegetables and milk chicken and pork chops. which was fine, we also got a whole back of rotting cabbage, soft, rotten bananas and a red pepper that was edible. I was very disappointed in what we were given in comparison to what we were able to receive before. To add to insult we were told to order on line from now on and just come and pick up.
How can I send LSSN a private message?
Can someone please message me from your office?
How to get your attention? I can help you overcome paying rent to other people! I have a project I have put together I am willing to share.
I am looking for somebody. He has been a homeless for years. He is probablily going around Henderson City . Somebody can help me?
