Welcome students and families,
My name is Greg Winiewicz and it is a great pleasure to introduce myself as the newly appointed principal of Gene Ward Elementary School. I am excited and humbly honored to serve this amazing community and begin working with the students, staff, and families that make Ward a great place to learn and grow.
I am originally from Chicago and am a devoted sports fan of the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Golden Knights when they aren’t playing my Blackhawks. My undergraduate degree is in elementary education from Nevada State College, where I had the opportunity to play college baseball. I received my Masters Degree in Education Administration from Sierra Nevada College. I come from a family of educators and was always inspired by my mother’s passion for teaching. In my leisure time I enjoy camping with family and friends, cooking, lifting weights, music production, and spending time with my new puppy Wrigley.
I am passionate about seeing the best in each and every one of our students and feel a sense of accomplishment seeing students grow in knowledge, confidence, and skills. It brings me deep joy to help students build their self-esteem to believe in themselves and their ability to learn, no matter their background or abilities.
I strive for our families to be involved in their child/children’s education and stress the importance of working together as a team. Together we will embrace challenges, celebrate achievements, and prepare for success within a global community developing the leaders of tomorrow.
