Avoid having your bike impounded by following the new laws……

In Clark County, Nevada, e-bikes are permitted in county parks, but with restrictions. While not prohibited entirely, e-bikes are subject to a 15 mph speed limit, and e-motorcycles (those without pedals) are prohibited. Additionally, reckless behavior like stunts or wheelies is banned for all devices, including e-bikes and e-scooters.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
* E-bikes and e-scooters are generally allowed: Unless otherwise posted, e-bikes and e-scooters are permitted within Clark County parks.

* Speed limit: E-bikes and e-scooters are limited to 15 mph while in county parks.

* E-motorcycles prohibited: Electric motorcycles, which lack pedals, are not allowed in county parks.

* Reckless behavior banned: Any form of reckless behavior, such as stunts or wheelies, is prohibited for all devices, including e-bikes and e-scooters.

* Enforcement and penalties: Violations of these rules can result in fines, with penalties ranging from $150 for a first offense up to $600 for repeat violations.

* Minors: Riders under 18 are required to wear helmets while operating e-bikes and e-scooters.

* Las Vegas Strip: E-bikes and e-scooters are prohibited on the Las Vegas Strip.

There is no minimum age for Class 1 or Class 2 e-bike riders under state law. (Parents should use discretion, of course.) However, Class 3 e-bike riders must be at least 16 years old by law. This means a 15-year-old cannot legally operate a Class 3 (28 mph) e-bike on public roads or paths in Nevada.

Please join us in congratulating Chief James Rogers on his retirement after a dedicated career in Law Enforcement! Chief Rogers began his law enforcement journey with the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office (MN), where he served for 24 years and retired as a Captain. In 2020, he brought his leadership and experience to Nevada as the Chief of the Clark County Office of Public Safety.

Over the past five years, Chief Rogers has led with professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public safety. His leadership has helped shape our department and strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the communities we serve.

Wishing you all the best in retirement, Chief Rogers. Thank you for your service and leadership!
