Today, we honor the flag and the ideals it represents: freedom, democracy, justice, and the promise of a nation where every person has a voice. But honoring our flag means more than raising it. It means protecting the rights and freedoms generations of Americans have fought to defend. On Flag Day, we recommit to building a country that lives up to its highest ideals and ensuring every Nevadan has the opportunity, dignity, and representation they deserve.

Today, we honor the United States Army and the generations of soldiers who have answered the call to serve. For nearly 250 years, the Army has defended our nation, protected our freedoms, and stood ready in moments of crisis at home and abroad. To the soldiers, veterans, military families, and Army communities across Nevada: thank you for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to our community. We are forever grateful.

Inflation is moving in the wrong direction and Nevada families are paying the price. New data shows inflation has climbed above 4% for the first time in three years, driven largely by higher energy and gas prices. That means more pressure at the pump, higher utility bills, and tighter budgets for families and small businesses already stretched thin. This is the cost of chaos. Nevadans need leaders focused on lowering costs, raising wages, and building an economy that works for working people.

Prices have now risen faster than wages for several months, pressuring many Americans’ finances and causing consumers to take a decidedly dim view of the economy.

Crypto should not be a political talking point. It should be governed by clear rules that protect consumers, prevent abuse, and make sure innovation works for everyone. In Nevada, we have seen what happens when emerging industries move faster than the rules meant to govern them. It creates uncertainty for consumers, small businesses, investors, and communities that deserve transparency and accountability. That is why I introduced the PARITY Act: to create a fair, durable tax framework for digital assets, close loopholes exploited by sophisticated traders, reduce unnecessary burdens on ordinary consumers, and keep innovation and jobs here in the United States.

The future of digital assets should be built on trust, fairness, and opportunity, not confusion or political games.

The most competitive Dem primary this cycle includes accusations of killing a ballot initiative and advancing MAGA crypto priorities.

Taking health care away from millions of Americans is not fiscal responsibility, it’s cruelty. New reporting shows that 7.5 million Americans could lose Medicaid coverage under the largest health care rollback in history. That means more families delaying care, more seniors and people with disabilities left without support, and more pressure on hospitals and providers already stretched thin. In Nevada, Medicaid is a lifeline for working families, children, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. Families are already struggling with rent, groceries, gas, and prescription drug costs. They should not have to worry about losing the care that keeps them healthy and financially secure. I will keep fighting to protect Medicaid, lower health care costs, and make sure every Nevadan can get the care they need.

I’ve been studying Medicaid policy and state-level coverage data for about eight years now, and the package Congress just passed is the largest single rollback I’ve tracked. Congress approved nearly a trillion dollars in Medicaid cuts over the coming years, and the Congressional Budget Office es...

Social Security is a promise earned through a lifetime of work. The latest Trustees Report shows the retirement trust fund is now projected to be depleted in late 2032, earlier than previously expected. Without action, seniors could face reduced benefits, not because they failed to pay in, but because Republicans failed to protect the program. In Nevada, more than 395,000 people in Clark County rely on Social Security. These are seniors, workers with disabilities, surviving spouses, and families who deserve stability, dignity, and the benefits they earned. I will keep fighting to protect Social Security, strengthen it for future generations, and make sure Nevada families can retire with security.

The Social Security Administration has released a report with new projections as to when the trust funds that help pay benefits may be depleted.

The future of digital assets cannot be built on outdated rules. As more Americans engage with crypto and blockchain technology, Congress has a responsibility to provide clarity, protect consumers, and make sure innovation reaches communities that have too often been left out of the financial system. That is what the PARITY Act is about: creating a fair framework for digital assets that supports responsible growth, strengthens trust, and opens more pathways to build wealth. Nevada deserves a seat at the table in the future of our economy.

Nevada families should not have to worry about how to keep food on the table when school is out for the summer. Summer EBT is back, providing a one-time $120 benefit per eligible child to help families buy groceries during the months when free and reduced-price school meals are not available. This year, the program is expected to support more than 300,000 school-aged children across Nevada with more than $36 million in food benefits. Last year, about 80% of benefits were used, but that still means too many dollars went unclaimed. Families should check their EBT cards, watch for notices, and make sure they use their benefits before they expire. At a time when grocery costs remain sky high, programs like Summer EBT feed children, help families stretch their budgets, and make sure Nevada kids have the nutrition they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

Nevada families will once again receive a one-time payment of $120 per child this summer to help buy groceries during months when free or reduced school meals are not available. The federal nutrition assistance program, known as Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (S-EBT), will benefit more than 300...

Digital assets are not a future issue. They are already here, and Congress has a responsibility to get this right. I have been clear: we need modern rules that provide certainty, protect consumers, prevent abuse, and make sure innovation creates opportunity for everyone, not just those already at the top. That is why I introduced the PARITY Act. This bill modernizes outdated digital asset tax rules and helps create a fairer system that supports responsible innovation while closing the wealth gap. Nevadans deserve a digital economy with clear rules, strong protections, and real pathways to build wealth.

The House Ways and Means Committee kicks off a big hearing Tuesday afternoon as Republicans push for a digital asset tax bill, and the tax and crypto worlds are watching closely how Democrats respond.

Las Vegas has always been a sports town, and this week is another major milestone for our city. The Athletics are playing six regular-season games at Las Vegas Ballpark, giving fans a preview of Major League Baseball’s future in Southern Nevada and building on a baseball history that runs deep in our community. From the Aviators to the A’s, moments like this show what we already know: Nevada is ready for the big leagues. As our sports economy continues to grow, we have to make sure these investments create real opportunities for local workers, small businesses, and families across Southern Nevada.

DJ Pauly D and Nick Carter threw out the first pitches, UFC announcer Bruce Buffer handled the pregame introductions and A’s legend Rollie Fingers bellowed “play ball.” The pageantry made ...
