✨HAPPY 250TH INDEPENDENCE DAY to America!🎆 "And now, Lord, we pray for this great nation, for this great heart of hearts of this mighty country—the very center of its activities, the place where it exercises its power and its strength. We pray for Thy blessing on this great nation. We thank Thee for all Thy goodness to it, and that through Thy loving-kindness it may be not only great and capable of promoting the highest possible degree of happiness and well-being of its own people, but that it may by Thy great grace be made a great power in the world, and make a glorious stand for righteousness and truth and peace and happiness among the nations."

After visiting the White House in 1903 where he met with President Theodore Roosevelt, The Salvation Army Founder, General William Booth, was invited to open the U.S. Senate with a prayer. "We pray for Thy blessing on this great nation."🙏

"For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another."📖

May God forever bless the USA!🇺🇸

✨On this day in 1865, William and Catherine Booth began their trailblazing gospel preaching that continues to change the world for GOOD as The Salvation Army 161 years later. ✨

Together, they taught people about Jesus in a way they could relate to, meeting wherever they could – dance halls, bowling alleys and outdoors – while addressing critical material needs too, they saw many become Christians.✝️

They were tireless in their compassionate mission. Their "Lights in Darkest England" matchsticks helped bring an end to "Phossy jaw", a horrific occupational disease. They exposed the trafficking of vulnerable women in parliament. They fought for good always, but fought hardest for those viewed as the least.🫶

The Booth's "Soup, Soap, and Salvation" humble approach to caring for others has seen millions assisted "Heart to God – hand to man.” ❤️

Today, The Salvation Army is active in virtually every corner of the world and serves in 133 countries🌎, including every zip code in the USA 🇺🇸, offering the message of God’s healing and hope to all our neighbors in need.🙌

🎉 We invite you to celebrate Founders' Day with us by doing good today! Perhaps a kind deed or a prayer for the widowed and neglected.🙏 "Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.” 📖

🗨️ “I just wanted to be a better person and help." Our favorite profile in Caring Magazine's latest feel-good story "Meet the joy spreaders" is Max and Pedro Contreras: Giving in action. These young men from the Southwest are leading the way for a bright future with their compassion and generosity. 🏜️

It’s not every day a pair of teenagers show up with cash to donate at The Salvation Army - Tucson's Hospitality House, but it's every day we want to shine the spotlight on their good works!❤️

🇺🇸🍩❤️Did you know that has its roots in doing good?

In 1917, The Salvation Army began a mission to provide for U.S. soldiers fighting in WWI France. Salvation Army volunteers, nicknamed “Donut Lassies,” set up near the front lines where they could pray with the soldiers; giving them clothes, supplies and, of course, donuts.🫶

Over 100 years later, we're still blessed to bring critical care. Thanks to good people like you, The Salvation Army is still on the front lines, still fighting for good, still serving comfort and compassion to neighbors in need during all types of disaster.

🕊️"We love because he first loved us.” 📖

💟Taking a moment to celebrate our good works together after all these years, sure does make National Donut Day extra sweet!

Here's to enjoying a donut while you learn more about this awesome American tradition, including the lassies' original donut recipe at salarmy.us/NatlDonutDay🍩

As we close out National Salvation Army Week, we reflect on more than 150 years of service, compassion, and hope. ❤️

What began as ministering to people living in poverty on the streets of London in 1865 has now become William and Catherine Booth's worldwide legacy and mission dedicated to serving neighbors in need without discrimination.

From disaster response and emergency shelter to youth programs, food assistance, and spiritual care, The Salvation Army continues to meet human needs in communities across the world and right here in the Southwest Division.
