Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling was in town yesterday to see firsthand how Southern Nevada is successfully bringing together employers, educators, government leaders and community partners to prepare workers for careers in growing industries and help businesses grow.
During the visit, he highlighted key partnerships, including:
➡ The first employer-focused American Job Center in the nation to be hosted inside a chamber of commerce. The EmployNV Business Hub located inside the Vegas Chamber connects businesses with no-cost resources available through the public workforce development system.
➡ The Debra March Center for Excellence, a centralized training hub preparing workers for high-skilled careers in advanced manufacturing. Located across the street from the future Haas Automation, Inc.. manufacturing facility that is under construction, the center is a partnership between the College of Southern Nevada and the City of Henderson Government.
The visit also included multiple roundtable discussions with business, K-12 and higher-education, government, workforce and economic-development leaders.
Thank you to all who participated!
And THANK YOU to Acting Secretary Sonderling for spending the afternoon with us to learn how our region is connecting employers to a ready workforce.
