HOBS helps to meet the short term needs of GLBT community members in the Washington D.C. area, who need help with problems resulting from HIV, elder care issues, drug addiction or subst

ance abuse, or who have suffered the harmful effects of discrimination. HOBS networks with other organizations, agencies and professionals who provide a variety of services and resources. We also strive to help the marginalized GLBT who do not fit the criteria for assistance from other agencies or organizations by connecting donors to the clients whose options have been exhausted because of the various circumstances in their lives. This adds a personal dimension for donors who find satisfaction in knowing that their generosity and efforts to help those can make a positive difference in an individual's life and help these individuals achieve independence, self-sufficiency, and restore their sense of hope.
