Are you a Veteran, Active Duty, National Guard, or Reservist with a story to tell?
Santa Fe based Horses for Heroes' will be hosting two screenwriters workshops, part of their 2026 Resilient Warrior Program. Offered specifically for Veterans, Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserves.
Here are the full details:
Saturday, May 2, 2026 - Screenwriting for TV and Movies with Mike Berchem Retired LAPD Robbery-Homicide Detective, Writer, and Producer (The Closer, Major Crimes, Longmire). In this workshop, Mike will walk through the process of turning the stories only you can tell into treatments, scripts, and outlines - drawing on his experience writing more than 30 published episodes of television. You'll receive sample scripts, learn about the tools available to new writers, hear about common pitfalls, and get guidance on registering your work and promoting it to potential buyers.
Saturday, September 19, 2026 - Telling Your Story with Anne Hillerman New York Times bestselling author and executive producer of AMC's Dark Winds. Anne continues her father Tony Hillerman's beloved Leaphorn & Chee Navajo Police series. If time allows, she's open to reviewing a few pages of your memoir, novel, or work in progress.
