Congratulations go out to the student athletes from Shaker High School for their success this spring season competing and dominating NYSPHAA Section 2. Shaker Girls Flag Football has won the Section 2 Class A title and have won their Regional Championship and are now advancing to the state semi-final round. Both the Boys and Girls Lacrosse teams have won the Section 2 Class A Championships and are now advancing to the Regional rounds.

Bid Opportunity for Surplus Vehicle:
The Latham Fire Department is offering a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe for sale with a minimum bid price of $16,000.00. Bids are due back to the Board of Director’s prior to our Department meeting on June 8th.
Vehicle Information:
2016 Chevrolet Tahoe with 4 wheel drive with current mileage of 71127.
Vehicle is purchased as is. If purchased by a private citizen, emergency lighting will be removed at the buyer’s expense prior taking ownership.

Our thoughts are with our brothers and sisters of the Menands Fire Company and the entire Village of Menands on the devastating fire last evening that occurred at the Village Municipal Building which houses their fire station and the Village of Menands Police Department.
The Fire Department has suffered a total loss of at least one piece of apparatus and damages to their other two pieces of apparatus along with heavy damage to their apparatus bays. The second floor which houses the administrative office, members lounge, kitchen and community hall filled with department memorabilia suffered heavy smoke damage.
The department is quickly trying to return to service and has received loaner apparatus and a temporary station to utilize. All their turnout gear was collected and distributed to the surrounding departments of Shaker Road, Fuller Road, Latham, Watervliet Arsenal and Verdoy for cleaning with some already being returned to service.
Fires in fire stations do occur more often than people expect. We ourselves suffered a complete loss of our station in the early 1980’s and had to rebuild. Menands will do the same and comeback stronger than ever.
