Eyes on. Safety brief done. Ran force-on-force scenarios until every movement was instinct.”

Oh—sorry, we thought you were looking for a better answer to “What did you do this weekend?”

For some NYANG Airmen, drill weekend means simunition training. Close-quarters scenarios, real teammates, and real decision-making under pressure. Controlled, high-intensity training designed to sharpen communication, situational awareness, and split-second judgment in environments that feel real, because they need to.

One weekend a month. Skills you can’t learn in a classroom.
Train smart. Stay ready. Serve your way.

“Spent the weekend running a simulated cyber incident with the team. Nothing like tracking down threats, locking down networks, and keeping our systems mission-ready. Not a bad way to level up your skills.”

Oh. Sorry, we thought you were looking for a better answer to “What did you do this weekend?”

In the New York Air National Guard, weekends are where real-world experience meets real impact. Our cyber, intel, and communications Airmen dive into hands-on missions that build technical mastery you can take anywhere. One weekend a month is all it takes to grow your expertise, expand your resume, and serve your state.

If you want a career that challenges you, grows you, and actually matters, we’ve got a seat ready for you.

In the New York Air National Guard, service isn’t just about the mission—it’s about the team. Whether we’re training, deploying, or knocking softballs into the outfield, we’ve got each other’s backs. One weekend a month, you can wear the uniform. The rest of the time, you’re part of a family that knows how to work hard and play hard.

Step up. Swing big. Serve your way. ⚾️✈️

"Set up shop at 30,000 feet. Knocked out mission planning, synced comms, and kept everything running while flying across the state. Not your average laptop grind.”

In the New York Air National Guard, weekends can mean trading a desk for the back of an aircraft, turning Wi-Fi signals into mission success, and working side-by-side with teammates who have your back no matter where you are. One weekend a month, endless opportunities to serve, grow, and take your skills sky-high.

You bring the drive. We’ll bring the mission. ✈️💻

“Spent the weekend on drill—except instead of just training with the crew, we were out at Showcase 2025 meeting lots of people, talking about what the NY Air National Guard does, and showing off the opportunities that come with putting on the uniform. From aircraft tours to STEM exhibits to answering questions about careers, it was all about connecting with our community and giving them a real look at what ‘Serve Your Way’ means.”

Oh—sorry, we thought you were looking for a better answer to “What did you do this weekend?”

For most of us, drill is one weekend a month—but sometimes that weekend means being the face of the Guard. It means inspiring future Airmen, showing families how we serve right here in New York, and proving that there’s a place for everyone on this team.

You bring the energy. We’ll bring the mission. 🚀

“Spent the weekend inside a C-130, running mission checks with the crew and making sure every detail lined up before wheels up. One weekend a month, and you’re part of something bigger—training, planning, and staying sharp so when the mission calls, we’re ready to answer.”

Oh—sorry, we thought you were looking for a better answer to “What did you do this weekend?”

For most members of the New York Air National Guard, drill comes once a month. But the impact of those weekends lasts all year—whether it’s flight ops, ground support, cyber, or medics, every Airman plays a role in keeping the mission moving.

You bring the focus. We’ll bring the opportunity. ✈️

PS Bonus points to those who catch what's NOT correct about this post.

📌 Quick note: Airmen don’t typically drill on holiday weekends like Labor Day—but we still like to show off the kind of training and missions we take on when we do meet.

So while you’re enjoying your day off, know that the New York Air National Guard trains hard, serves strong, and is always ready for the call. 🚁💪
