Our hearts are heavy tonight.
Another senseless evil has taken the life of a dedicated officer who put everything on the line to serve his community.

To the family, friends, and brothers and sisters in blue of Detective Randy Hoppert — our thoughts and prayers are with you during this unimaginable pain. May God wrap you in comfort and strength.

With the dust settled and the town of Laton resting after a night of excitement, happiness, and unity, the 25-foot-tall Christmas tree, 50 feet off the ground, proudly stands throughout the night as a beacon of joy and pride for all of Laton. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Laton Fire Department in giving back to the Laton community; and a bigger thank you to those who donated to make tonight possible.
