We are honored and deeply grateful to announce that Hearts & Hands Helping Seniors has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Impact Grant Award from The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County.

This generous investment in our mission allows us to continue providing the services that help older adults remain independent, connected, and supported. From transportation to medical appointments and grocery shopping to meaningful social connection, these services make a lasting difference in the lives of the seniors we are privileged to serve.

At Hearts & Hands Helping Seniors, we believe no older adult should have to face aging alone. Thanks to the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County's partnership and generosity, we can continue building compassionate relationships, reducing isolation, and ensuring our neighbors receive the care, dignity, and connection they deserve.

To the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us continue this important work. We are truly honored by your support and grateful for the opportunity to serve our community together.

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Hearts & Hands Helping Seniors!

We hope you enjoy a day filled with family, friends, and celebration.

As you celebrate, please remember to:

• Stay hydrated and take breaks from the heat.

• Check in on your elderly friends, neighbors, and loved ones to make sure they're staying cool and safe.

• Keep pets indoors with plenty of fresh water, especially during the hottest part of the day and while fireworks are going off.

A few small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Wishing you a safe, happy, and healthy Independence Day!
❤️🤍💙

Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a dear co-worker and friend.

She was more than someone we worked beside. She was part of our daily lives, our shared mission, and our extended work family. Her kindness, dedication, and presence touched so many people, and her absence will be deeply felt.

We are grateful for the time we had with her and for the many ways she made a difference in the lives of others. Please keep her family, friends, co-workers, and all who loved her in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

May she rest in peace, and may her memory continue to be a blessing.❤️

As we close out Mental Health Awareness Month, it's important to remember that mental health is just as important as physical health, especially for older adults.

For many seniors, loneliness and isolation can quietly become part of daily life due to the loss of loved ones, health challenges, limited mobility, or living alone. According to the CDC, approximately 1 in 3 adults report feeling lonely, and older adults are among those most vulnerable to the negative effects of social isolation. Research shows that loneliness can impact both mental and physical well-being, increasing the risk of depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and other serious health concerns.

At Hearts and Hands Helping Seniors, reducing isolation and creating meaningful connections is at the heart of our mission. Whether it's a friendly phone call, a ride to an appointment, a helping hand with errands, or simply knowing someone cares, these moments of connection make a difference.

Here are three simple ways we can all support the seniors in our lives:

❤️ Check in regularly. A quick phone call, text, or visit can brighten someone's day.

❤️ Invite them to participate. Include older neighbors, relatives, and friends in community events, family gatherings, or social activities.

❤️ Listen and connect. Sometimes the greatest gift is simply taking time to hear someone's story and make them feel seen, valued, and heard.

Together, we can help ensure that no senior feels forgotten and that every older adult remains connected to the heart of their community.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made our freedoms possible, and their courage will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we also take a moment to reflect with gratitude and remembrance for those who served and sacrificed for us all. ❤️🤍💙

From all of us at Hearts and Hands Helping Seniors, thank you to the heroes who gave everything for our nation.

April is National Volunteer Month, and this week we celebrate National Volunteer Week. 💛

What starts as yarn, fabric, and a simple idea… turns into something so much more. 🧵🪡

On April 9, we kicked off this year’s Advent Angel project at our Crafter’s Kickoff Luncheon. A room full of conversation, creativity, and people ready to give their time and talents in a meaningful way.

These volunteers, our Advent Angels, will spend the months ahead creating handmade gifts for every senior we serve during the holiday season.

Each piece is personal. Each one is made with care and the intention of reaching someone who needs that reminder.

That they are thought of. That they matter. ❤️

To our Advent Angels, thank you for the time you give, the talents you share, and the heart you bring to every single piece.

Thank you to Laurel Highlands Workforce and Opportunity Center for hosting us! ☺️
