Carr's Tunnel (1856-1970s) aka Witches Tunnel Donohoe, Pennsylvania This 825-foot, brick-lined tunnel was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1856. Further details and history coming soon

Recent photos looking down on the entrance to Witches' (Carr's) Tunnel on the abandoned rail spur to now-vanished Carney Station. It's accessible from Laurelview Dr. near intersection with Clearview in East High Acres II plan, Greensburg/Latrobe PA. WARNING: don't go down into the cut by yourself. Take a friend and a mobile phone. It's very steep, and if you get stuck down there you're in trouble. GPS coordinates 40 degrees 18' 43' North, 79 degrees 28' 1" west.

Westmoreland County railroad map, 1895. Just east of Greensburg: Witches' (Carr's) Tunnel, Beatty Station and Carney Station. Beatty's Station and still-existing Beatty County Road take their name from the now-abandoned Beatty mine. Today, the Unity Township municipal building is located on the lake formerly used by the Beatty mine.
