As the Legislature debates eliminating non‑school property taxes on homesteaded homes, many local officials warn that such cuts could blow holes in city and county budgets. Florida’s property‑tax revenue has already jumped from $32 billion (2019) to $60 billion (2025). Cutting this revenue without a replacement could strain schools and essential services. Lawmakers are studying whether a phased‑in approach could soften the blow.
